White - Sparkling
N.V. Pascal Doquet Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
90 points
Lovely wine, discreet but harmonious style, slightly fresher than the bottle tasted last year.
White
2013 Château Ste-Lucie d'Aussou Aude Carignan Blanc France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Aude
90 points
Still going strong. Light colour, less fruit and flesh than two years ago but the salty minerality is even more pronounced and impressive. Rare and interesting.
Red
2014 Moric Blaufränkisch Reserve Austria, Burgenland
91 points
An exemplary Blaufränkisch, peppery and fresh, ripe red cherries and violets, lovely minerality and precision, silky texture, pure and elegant, gently grippy tannins, harmonious fresh acidity, very good length. Young but already delightful, good future. Drink now - 2024.
Spirits
N.V. Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal Mexico, Oaxaca, Chichicapa
91 points
An interesting blend of 10% Miel de Maguey (the unfermented syrup of roast agave) and 90% Mezcal from San Luis del Rio (Oaxaca), double distilled from 100% Agave Espadin. A first for me and I must say I like it very much. The Mezcal is of excellent quality, wonderfully pure and aromatic, and the Miel rounds it off beautifully and even seems to add to the smokiness. Dangerously delicious!
