Flight 1 (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
1998 Jacquart Champagne Blanc de Blancs Millésimé France, Champagne
91 points
Pale yellow/gold colour. Aromas of vanilla, pear, biscuit, mineral, and coconut. Medium-bodied with nuts, apple, pear, and lemon rind initially on the palate. Develops to also show nice floral notes and toast. Short-moderate finish, 20-25s, with lemon, white fruit, and toast. Tasty Champagne at a good price point.
Red
1998 Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
90 points
Medium-dark ruby colour. Aromas of sottobosco, dried flowers, leather, and mushrooms. Medium-bodied, very refined and elegant. Perfectly integrated tannins with replays from nose. Lingering finish, ~35-40s, with earth, leather, and dried fruit. Very tasty stuff. No need to wait any longer on this wine. Drink now.
Red
1998 Pian Delle Vigne (Antinori) Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
91 points
Dark ruby/black colour; opaque. Powerful nose of black licorice, black plums, spice, and dried violets. Medium-full bodied, with replays from nose, earth. Tannins are perfectly integrated. Moderate-finish, ~30-35s, with dark fruit and dried flower notes. Drinking very well right now, and I don't see it improving any further. This has always been a really enjoyable bottle.
