N.V. Jacques Selosse Champagne Grand Cru Lieux-dits Extra Brut Ambonnay Le Bout du Clos France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

Disgorged 20 Feb 2014. Orange/golden coloured. Nose is very earthy with orange peel, crushed apple, musk, pine and some oxidative tang. The palate shows off lovely acidity with great texture and savoury interest. Very good length and overall, a compelling wine.
White - Sparkling
2008 Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Grand Cru Vieille Vigne du Levant Extra Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

Lime, floral notes, apple and some light spices. Good acidity here, very clean and the fruit is light on its feet. Like the fresh and bright profile of this.
White - Sparkling
2016 Albino Rocca Moscato d'Asti Italy, Piedmont, Asti, Moscato d'Asti

Floral, pear and oranges on the nose. Palate shows light sweetness, with reasonably bright fruit giving it nice balance. Has a refreshing element that makes this a great easy drinking wine.
White
2015 Domaine Roulot Meursault France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
92 points
Smoke, lemon, floral and pineapple on the nose. Riper in style on the palate, though it has great acidity and flow. Really lovely young wine.
White
2011 Albert Boxler Gewurztraminer Brand France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
91 points
Amazingly lifted nose with rose petals, lemon peel, kiwi and spice. The palate is nice as well, there is some sweetness and a little of that Gewurtz bitterness that gives it a little texture rather than interrupting the flow. Good length and lovely drinking.
Red
2015 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
91 points
Floral with violets and spice, redcurrant and some iron/blood. The palate has some ashy notes to go with the bright red fruit. Acidity carries the palate well, with good length. A good followup to the also very nice 2014.

2015 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

Cherry, rhubarb, plum - lifted but also shows dark fruit in its profile. The palate blends the black fruit richness while still holding some elegance through the acid. Really lovely balance and one of the best versions of this wine I've tried.
Red
2015 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
90 points
Tobacco, tomato and meaty and smoky elements that come through strongly. The palate show astringent tannins, tightly structured and good length but will need time to come out of its shell.
Red
2015 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
91 points
Redcurrant, cherry and roses on the red tinged nose. Very well structured on the palate, the red fruit showing through but with the power coiled up thanks to the tannin structure. Plenty of time to go here.

The 1986 Jimmy Watson trophy winner. Eucalyptus, chocolate, lots of green, stalky, vegetable characters that take over the nose. The palate has held up and still shows some fruit that mixes well with the herbal elements. Pretty full on with the green characters but is still drinking decently well.

2004 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Floral, tar, tobacco and plums. In the zone on the palate, there is well integrated fine tannins and fruit that feels fresh but is starting to soften. Long and really well balanced, can start drinking these now and over the next 10 years.

2002 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5° Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero

Ash, cherry, licorice and blackcurrant. Sweet edges palate, with red fruit and fine tannins. Driven with good acidity and great length. Feels like it is starting to hits its peak, I'll leave my bottle for another 2-3 years.

Blind. Blueberry, redcurrant, smoke and cherry - it is quite fruit driven but there is also some herb notes to keep it interesting. The palate also shows that plusher fruit profile and good lift, but again the savoury earthy notes come in to give it an extra dimension. Still youthful, this was an awesome showing for this wine.

2015 Tardieu-Laurent Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

Aromatic and perfumed on the nose with spice, pepper, ripe blackcurrant and blackberry and some smoke that blows off after a while in the glass. Good tannins control the ripeness well, this purrs along with good balance and definition. Give it 10+ years and it should be in a good spot.
Red
2016 Sami-Odi Shiraz Hoffmann Dallwitz Australia, South Australia, Barossa

Licorice, pepper blueberry and lemon on the nose. Palate is rounded but also has some nice savoury & stalky notes. Good grip that gives the wine some balance with the riper fruit. Very likable.

1983 Château Coutet Barsac France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Barsac

Bottle #3 in 3 months and we finally hit a good one! Marzipan, nutty, coconut and caramel. The palate shows lovely balance with light sweetness from the caramelised fruit flavour. Good length. Probably drinking around its peak now for my taste.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2013 Tawse Riesling Icewine Canada, Ontario, Niagara Peninsula, Twenty Mile Bench VQA
90 points
200ml bottle. Pineapple, lemon, apricot and quince on the nose. Heavily concentrated with rich tropical fruit flavour and good acidity that arcs up to propel the palate forward.
