Weekly tasting group RWP #288: Complete surprise which appeared to be Rhone.

Introduction
The tasting was fully blind and the bottles revealed after every flight. So after a few flights we understood the them was Rhone wines.
All bottles were popped and poured.

2012 Alain Voge St. Péray Les Bulles d'Alain Petillant

Quite yellow color. Ripe and soft, tropical fruits, melon and a touch of sweetness. Soft bubbles, yellow and red sweet apples, some herbs, mild acidity and a soft mouth feel. Pleasant easy going wine.

Aromatic bouquet with flowers and some spiciness. On the palate grapy, bananas, anise, candy flavors, a bit fat, good acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness.

In the bouquet minerals and a bit rustic. On the palate a full bodied wine, a bit fat and citrus and pineapple acidity. Very pleasant wine.

In the bouquet flowers and vanilla. On the palate full bodied and a bit fat, some medicine, butter and minerals. Beautiful acidity and some pleasant sweetness. Beautiful and tasty wine. 90 - 92

2000 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée
I know de l'Orée can age beautifully and then this bottle is a great disappointment. In the bouquet caramel, raisins, currants, coffee and oxidized flavors. Same on the palate. The acidity and sweetness are still ok, but this should perform much better. The wine was bought at an auction.

The bouquet is still a bit locked but shows red berries and cherries as well as beautiful herbs and spices. On the palate ripe red and dark berries, cherries, chocolate, ink, oak and juicy acidity and tannin. 91 - 92. Waiting until 2022 might be rewarding.

Youthful bouquet with ripe dark berries and cherries, a touch of barnyard and vanilla. On the palate primary and youthful as well, dark berries, chocolate, some sweetness and also firm and good, fresh acidity. Round and firm tannin, a good length and the alcohol shows a bit. Wait until 2023+. 91+ for now.

Beautiful bouquet with soft spiciness and ripe red and dark berry fruits. On the palate the same juicy fruits and garrigue, lush and yet elegant with beautiful acidity. Beautiful wine. 92+ for now.

Just some short notes. In the bouquet dark berries, garrigue and some pepper. On the palate ripe fruits, juicy acidity and tannin and some pleasant pepper again.
