Flight 1 (11 notes)

White
2017 Weingut Josef Leitz Riesling Eins Zwei Dry "3" Germany, Rheingau
88 points
Retailer tasting, brief note. Screwcap, 12% ABV. From vineyards in the entire Rheingau, but very little from Rüdesheim itself. Light but intense, zippy acidity, lovely Rheingau typicity, very delicious and excellent value.
White
2016 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheim Riesling Trocken Germany, Rheingau
87 points
Retailer tasting, brief note. Löss and loam soils, from the flatter vineyards east of the Rüdesheimer Berg, with a little bit of Bischofsberg thrown in. Earthy, juicy, has substance and bright acidity but lacks a certain elegance at this stage.
White
2016 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheim Riesling Magic Mountain Germany, Rheingau
88 points
Retailer tasting, brief note. From declassified grapes grown in vineyards on the Rüdesheimer Berg, fermented in large oak. Juicy yellow fruit, floral lift, light body, slightly lower acidity than the previous two wines, lovely bitter notes, good length.

White
2016 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheingau
91 points
Retailer tasting, brief note. From a sheltered part of the Roseneck, light but intense, relatively generous and open style for 2016, attractive but not as profound as the Rottland 2015 which came after it.

White
2015 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Hinterhaus Germany, Rheingau
92 points
Retailer tasting, brief note. More structured than the Roseneck 2016, still a bit yeasty on the nose, slender and linear style for such a warm year, rounded off by a touch of wood, lovely depth, very good length. An archetypal Rüdesheimer.
