Introduction

For the participants served blind, but not for me

Flight 1 (3 notes)

White
2014 Janotsbos Pouilly-Fuissé France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé
89 points
Tropical fruits like pineapple and white fruits. On the palate juicy white and yellow fruits, a slight touch of oak, mango, pineapple, good acidity and some slightly green impressions.
White
2017 Rustenberg Chardonnay South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch
87 points
Expressive bouquet with vanilla and white fruits. On the palate ripe white fruits, a firm dose of oak, good acidity and some bitterness.
White
2014 Maycas Del Limari Chardonnay Quebrada Seca Chile, Limarí Valley
89 points
The bouquet has white fruits, gooseberry, minerals, smoke, oak and is a bit stinky. Same on the palate. Slate? Laurel. Grapefruits including its bitterness. Firm acidity. Interesting wine.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Red
2004 Château de Saint Cosme Gigondas Hominis Fides France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
93 points
Beautiful, deep and complex bouquet with red and dark berries, some garrigue and beautifully mature. On the palate juicy red berries, sweet spices, dark berries as well, beautiful acidity, leather, herbs and spices and tannin with a soft bite. Beautiful now and fully mature, but on the other hand no real hurry yet. Unfortunately this was my last bottle.

2012 Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Vieilles Vignes La Louisiane France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
91 points
At first red berries and garrigue in the bouquet. On the palate good freshness, herbs, metal and good acidity. The leftover kept in the cooler for three days was still lovely and showed sweet spices and chocolate. Lovely wine which will improve with another 3+ years of ageing. 89 for the first evening, 92 for the leftover.

Just some short notes. Red and black berries and pleasant garrigue. Good acidity. Not extremely concentrated, but quite elegant and beautiful. The tannin still has a soft and pleasant bite.
