Flight 1 - First Course (1 note)
Smoked salmon roe, sour cream, steamed bun
White
2015 G.D. Vajra Langhe Riesling Petracine
93 points
Cool refreshing minty and melony nose, and a bit of almond varnish hint. Still retaining a good amount of acidity, and some residual sugar, lime citrus, zesty. The freshness pulled through to the finish. Quite remarkable for a Riesling that has already spent 3 years in the bottle. Perhaps it’s one of the rare ones that can age even further
Flight 2 - Second Course (1 note)
Chargrilled zucchini, cauliflower skordalia, capers, aonori
Red
Flight 3 - Third Course (1 note)
Crescent pumpkin, black garlic molé, pumpkin seed oil, cocoa nibs
Red
2016 G.D. Vajra Barbera d'Alba
93 points
Elevated acidity and tannins, while luscious and rich in black cherry, plum, dried roses, varnish, and grass. A fairly long and pleasant finish. Enjoyable
Flight 4 - Fourth Course (1 note)
Lacquered duck breast, smoked marsala sauce, sweet potato gnocchi, red currant agro dolce
Red
2014 G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe
91 points
Very refreshingly acidic, and lots of cassis and plum. A cool grassy feel, and some yeast and savoury soy and dried rose towards the back. Strangely, a short finish
Flight 5 - Fifth Course (1 note)
Roast lamb rump, baharat, paneer, saag
Red
2014 G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole
92 points
Acidic and tannic, and a bit burnish, while the body was quite light. Some good power on the black fruits (cassis, plum), grass, peat and smoke. A very respectable fruity finish. Good!
Flight 6 - Dessert (1 note)
Spiced pear tart, fresh cream
White - Sparkling
2018 G.D. Vajra Moscato d'Asti
93 points
A pronounced ripe pineapple sweetness, and some Brioche creaminess. Very sweet, but the acidity and light body could counter, to avoid any of the cloying sensation. Generally, enjoyable and a good way to end a meal
