Flight 1 (4 notes)
White
2010 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Chapelot
92 points
A rare wine to find and so a thrill to enjoy. Ripe apple with lemon curd starts out ripe and slightly sweet for Chablis, then more precise and near-elegant on long finish. Very good length. Impressive near-Grand Cru density.
White
2011 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Caillerets
95 points
Complex array of ripe apple, baked apple, peach and something near tropical with amazing density. Opulent, especially for the vintage, while clearly also well structured and balanced.
Red
2014 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Clos Vougeot
94 points
Superbly bright red cherry start-to-finish, both sweet and tart. Plus some black cherry notes from middle-to-finish. Air starting bringing out savory spice, then baking spice as well with even more time in glass. Incredibly elegant with sneaky power emerging as the evening moved forward. Just a baby, but incredibly enticing with a long life going forward.
Red
2008 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux
93 points
Black plum and cherry with a meaty, chewy character and great density. Enjoyed over 3 hours before and after dinner, this started powerful and near backward, but softening into something truly elegant and charming with more air. Lots of upside from here.
