Vino Volo Portland

Portland Airport

Tasted October 18, 2019 by Woodbridge Brad with 70 views

Introduction

Vino Volo Wines are a tad overpriced but when you have time they are fun and the food is better tasting and for you than other spots in the airport.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
2016 Day Wines Hock and Deuce Mae's Vineyard USA, Oregon, Southern Oregon, Applegate Valley
90 points
Very slightly rustic on a good way, complex and true to Syrah flavors. Moderate color and fruit finish reflects the Viognier. Warming but not alcoholic, this is fun wine. Would like to get a couple. After the tasting flight I got a glass of this with a rosemary chicken sandwich, nice.
Red
2012 Château de Roquebrune Cuvée Reine France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol
88 points
Bit tannic and austere but enough fruit and substance to carry the wine. Not the best from LdP but more than adequate. The finish is quite tannic ok but distracting.
Red
2012 Browne Family Vineyards Malbec USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
86 points
Intense color for a seven year old wine. The nose is smoke and oak. In the mouth it is all barrel with a linger of fruit. Embalmed by oak. Some may like it I would move on. Not bad but clumsy.
