Always easy and delicious - this slipped down beautifully in a balanced, tasty halo of strawberries, apples and mineral, with just a kiss of rose at the finish, all this wrapped in a robe of creamy mousse. Yum. My favourite mass-market rose by some distance.

2007 Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

A big, strong village, just about coming into its own. The nose showed deep wafts of dark cherries and berries, bloody iron mineral, and a lift of florals and spice at the edges. The palate was still marked by a sense of extraction - with firm, powdery in tannins and chewy acidity framing big flavours of dark berries and cherries, all this leased with a nice spiciness and, again, that tang of iron mineral. Solid stuff, good with meat dishes, and probably with still a bit of upside to go. Not the most elegant of styles though.

Still really young, but there was certainly quality on this. The nose was tight and lemony on first pour, but slowly opened up to show more expansive aromas of white fruit, apple flesh, and touches of mineral and spice. The palate was still tight and unyielding, but there was a quiet sense of strength and power to it, with a stream of ripe appley fruit riding on an undertow of mineral and super-bright, lemony acidity into a long, full finish. Mouthfilling stuff, coating absolutely every crevice, but still so young.

2015 David Duband Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

A bit too modern for my tastes, but this was well-made. The nose showed a blush of sweet vanilla and milk-powder oakiness along with fresher notes of dark cherries, mineral and some dried flowers. The palate had a big, extracted feel to it, with firm, slightly woody tannins and a good amount of bright acidity framing large-scale flavours of dark cherry and red berries, all this trailed with a blush of spice and some dried flowers into the finish.

Very pleasant. The nose was classic Mosel, with pinpricks of kerosene floating around a core of sweet stone fruit with a bit of a tropical edge on them. The palate had a nice soft balance on it, with lemon and kumquat acidity laced through sweet melon and stone fruit flavours. There was also a touch of characteristic ice-cream soda on it as the wine traced its way into a fresh, wonderfully focused finish. Delicious stuff. Neither the most complex nor the most compelling, but delicious stuff nonetheless. This was a lovely, elegant, minerally expression.

2017 Sababay Winery Ludisia Indonesia, Bali

A strange little wine from Bali, Indonesia. Apparently made using local varietals - something quite out of my experience; I don't think I have ever had anything else that tasted quite like this. It had asSweet nose, almost like rose water and candied raspberries. Can't say I found it all that nice. The palate was soft and simple, with sweet candied cherries and raspberries edged with some green tones. Acidity was quite low, but it was still somehow decently balanced. Not undrinkable, but maybe more as a sweetish dessert drink then a regular wine.
