Introduction

Great tasting at K&L--the Hirsch pinot was the real standout here.

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2017 Failla Chardonnay Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

According to the taster, this sees mostly concrete. The nose is a little closed, but it's nice stone fruit and lemon. On the palate there is slate, jasmine, asian pear, tangerine. Very clean, very pleasant.
White
2017 Failla Chardonnay Keefer Ranch USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Fuller than the Sonoma Coast chardonnay. More melon and pear on the nose. On the palate, a surprising amoutn of body, thick, with only medium, medium minus acid. Cantaloupe and tropical fruit.
Red
2017 Failla Pinot Noir Lola USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
90 points
Really light ruby. Mostly Petaluma fruit. Raspberry and strawberry on the nose. Floral, with some whole cluster character. On the palate, there's som more whole cluster herbaciousness, crush strawberryies, some cream. Medium/medium plus acid. Very light body.
Red
2017 Failla Pinot Noir Seven Springs Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

Much bigger than the Lola. More candied on the nose, almost a little bubblegum. Medium plus tannin with enough acidity. Big body for a pinot. Darker fruit, plum. My least favorite of the pinots.
Red
2017 Failla Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

Nice light ruby color. The nose is orange peel and cinnamon spice, tea, and strawberries. Thyme. Silky palate with plenty of acid. Ethereal on the mouth. More tea, orange zest, bergamot, and crushed strawberry. Very good, and will probably improve for ~5 years.
