Flight 1 - Romanee St. Vivant (2 notes)

2007 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru

Drinking really well. Came out awkward. After an hour or so, presenting beautifully in the glass and on the nose. ADV says this could last 20 years due to using 60% stems. The mix gives the wine structure without any green. Bertrand called this the “yoga wine” - you should sit with this and just meditate. I agree with him.

This was a bit more concentrated than the 07. The warmth of the vintage showed here. Still quite good just not fully expressive yet - need to crack the shell and then this will probably be quite good.

Flight 2 - RIchebourg (2 notes)

Red
1996 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru

Charming. Youthful even at 24 years in. ADV said this was delicious in barrel but closed after bottling. Closed due to cold wind from the north. He kept referring to them as being “cold”. Coming out of its shell now. Good Richebourg spice.

Didn’t have much in the way of notes. Probably my least favorite on the night. It was good but wasn’t harmonious.

Flight 3 - Romanee Conti (2 notes)

Red
2000 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Romanée-Conti Grand Cru

Difficult vintage. Ultimately, a simple wine just made to perfection. Nothing out of balance. All flavors are perfect.

Another tough vintage, but the striking part of this one is how weightless it feels without comprising strength and depth.

Flight 4 - Montrachet (1 note)

White
2009 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
94 points
Despite what others are saying, this is really a wine for the future. No Botr. Little sharper. More mineral and linear. Still feels opulent.

Flight 5 - Post dinner wines (1 note)

White
2011 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Monts Mains France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
(NR) - at the end of a long night. Remember enjoying it.
