Flight 1 - Sparkling (1 note)

Let them think it is champagne...

White - Sparkling
N.V. Fruitiere Vinicole d'Arbois Crémant du Jura Château Béthanie France, Jura, Crémant du Jura
89 points
Brioche, cream caramel, yellow apples, minerality. Nice lively mousse, very fresh acidity under a slight touch of sweetness, medium body, good length. Well balanced, uplifting. Flavours as aromas plus a bit smoke. Just as lovely day two.
The blindtasters took it for an entry level champagne. Agree, very good QPR. Will definitely buy some more and label it our "house sparkling".

From the coop in Arbois. Made of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot noir, from chalk and marl. Newly bought, but no data on deg.date or dosage.

Flight 2 - Classic whites with a dark horse (3 notes)

White
2004 Mommessin Pouilly-Fuissé Monternot France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé
92 points
Light amber. Mature nose with wormwood, Sevilla orange, English marmalade, almond mass with a slight bitterness, oak. Acetaldehyd, reminds of a non-ouillé Jura.
Very slight sweetness, fresh, well wrapped acidity, medium body, very good length. Flavours as found on nose.Complexity. Delicious, but propably not in the way it was meant to be.
White
2015 Wine & Soul Douro Guru Portugal, Douro
89 points
Lemon with golden hue. Developed nose, medium plus intensity. Oak, a lot of oak. Smokiness. Dry, medium (-) acidity, medium body and very good length. Oak, exotic fruit, butter and a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Agile texture. Power, balance. The blindtasters are happy and sure of it is a white bordeaux.
Nice wine in the oaked style, but personally, thinks it has a bit too intrusive oak. Will wait around five years for next bottle.

Blend of Voisinho, Rabigato, Codega do larinho and Gouveio.
White
2007 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
79 points
Mature. Oxidised nose, bruised apples. High acidity, medium body, long aftertaste. Light phenolic grip alt. oak tannin. Dried yellow fruit, oxidised, dull. Really dull.

Flight 3 - Classic bordeaux blends (3 notes)

Red
2006 Simonsig Tiara South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch
91 points
Red with brownish edge, high intensity. Developed, lovely bx-reminding complex nose. Fresh acidity, medium plus finely grinded tannins, medium plus body, long aftertaste. Integrated, koncentrated flavours. Integrated oak. Beetroots, dark berries, cherries, black currant. Dark chocolate.
The blindtasters say "wow" and nail it as a bordeaux. Not so, but a wonderful bx-blend from Stellenbosch. 68% Cabernet sauvignon, 32% Merlot. Very good QPR.
Red
2000 Château Monbrison France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
92 points
Red, brownish edge, high intensity. Relatively mature nose with leather, stable, toasted oak, dark berries in a subtle but concentrated mix. Medium plus acidity. Medium plus tannins, small and sandy polished to velvet. Fruity, integrated oak, leather, black fruit, plums and black currant, beetroots. Taut, concentrated balance. Beautiful!
Red
2000 Les Tourelles de Longueville France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Red, brownish edge, high intensity. Developed, a bit shy nose. Complex, integrated aromas with plums, black current and a touch of mint. Fresh acidity, a very slight sweet touch. Medium plus tannins, superfine, silky. Dark fruit, oak, leather, wormwood, beetroot and a lovely green note. Wow! A wine with "that". Silky elegance.
