Flight 1 - White (3 notes)

White
2004 Peter Michael Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
91 points
PnP. A bit oxidized (or other the hill?) but still drinkable. Typical PM with greenish yellow color. Apart from the oxidized like acidity, the nose is full of apricot, lemon and flowers. Full body and rich with fruit sweetness, again overshadowed by the oxidized feel. Not particular fresh in taste.
White
1999 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
88 points
PnP. Seriously corked at first and flat but generally improved over the next 2 hours with decanting.

Color was gorgeous yellow. Nose is quite reserved. If this is not slightly corked, the wine offered some oaky nose with citrus, lime and mineral. Somehow the complexity was affected by the condition of the wine. Finishing is short. Second Fontaine-Gagnard recently in this unfavorable condition
White
1999 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc De L'Orée France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
90 points
PnP. Big wine with honey, citrus, and full body. The palate was affected by slightly corked condition but still drinkable. The finishing is a bit flat unfortunately, otherwise I would expect this wine should be good.

Flight 2 - Red (5 notes)

Red
1999 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Domaine Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
94 points
Bottle breathe for 1.5 hours before serving. The nose is condensed with note of cherry and smoke (cigar?). The palate is complex with layers of fruits, wood, smoke. Good structure for strong 99'. Continued to evolve in the glass for 30-45 min before drinking up. Good potential for another 10 years at least.
Red
1970 Château Latour à Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
93 points
Bottle breathe for 2 hours, and double decant before serving. Great nose with cigar, violet and flower, and the palate is fully integrated and matured tannin with some hint of fruit, more dominated with wood, smoke and leather. Hold well in the first 30 min, and peak afterwards. Not particularly complicated but nice drinking of this 50-year old gem.
Red
1970 Les Forts de Latour France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
95 points
Bottle breathe for 2 hours and decanted for 30 min before serving. Another amazing Les Forts 70s that offered cedar, violet, and ripe fruit, and the palate is fully integrated and fruit. Full body and condensed yet balanced. Medium finishing. The wine kept developing in the next hour until we finished up. Wonderful 50-year old wine
Red
2007 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
96 points
Bottle breathe for 1 hour, and then double decanted before serving. Deep and sexy nose with loads of strawberry with hint of raspberry and some mineral (and menthol? A bit). The palate is full of density, sappy, fruit with chewy texture yet very silky. Medium/ long finishing. Now it enters into drinking phase but no doubt it could last for another 10-20 years
Red
1970 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
94 points
Bottle breathe for 2 hours, and then slightly decant (c. 20 min) before serving. Typical matured Barolo nose with some soy sauce, cigar. The palate is fully matured with density, some wood and a hint of fruit. Medium/ long finishing. Still young given 50-year old.
