Flight 1 (5 notes)

Red - Fortified
1965 Krohn Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
93 points
Dark amber-orange in color. Light cinnamon, mint, and some cherry notes on the nose. Incredibly intense approach with rich cinnamon and red fruit. Milk chocolate and some spice on the very long finish. Decanted 2.5 hours.
Red - Fortified
1992 Quinta do Infantado Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
92 points
Dark purple in color. Fresh floral notes on the nose, with the vibrancy of a youthful Vintage Port. Noticeable tannins on the long finish. The 1985 Fonseca and the 1987 Taylor Fladgate Quinta da Vargellas are the only other two wines that I can think of that show this young for a late 1980s, early 1990s Vintage Port. Decanted 4 hours.
Red - Fortified
1983 Ramos Pinto Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
92 points
Dark purple with violet on the edges. Violet and floral notes, with vanilla bean and some cocoa powder. Fresh primary purple fruit on the palate. Great concentration of floral notes with chocolate and some hits of cranberry. Decanted 4.5 hours.
Red - Fortified
1982 Krohn Porto Colheita Portugal, Douro, Porto
93 points
Bottled in 2015. Dark orange-brown in color. Honeysuckle, cedar, and touch of vinagrinho ("little vinegar"). Orange spice, honey, and macerated oranges on the palate. A touch of bitterness on the finish.
White - Fortified
1973 Casa de Sta. Eufemia Porto Special Reserve White Portugal, Douro, Porto
91 points
A touch of mustiness on the nose. Rich, full-bodied with tropical fruit and some spirit. Really great acidity, and a nice long finish. A little bit of astringency mars the finish slightly, but overall a great bottle.
