White
2019 Maître de Chai Chenin Blanc Kierkegaard USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley
90 points
This was really good off the list at Aria. Terrific value. Very Chenin, in an exxistential way :) Fresh. Citrus cut. Minerality. Lower alcohol. Easy to crush
Rosé
2010 R. López de Heredia Rioja Rosado Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
94 points
This stuff is just fantastic. This bottle initially felt older/almost showed barrel-aged. Really similar to the oxidative notes you find in the LdH Blancs. Just let it sit in the glass and it starts to morph into a complex, spicy, oxidative, red fruited and herbal notes. Sherry-like. Just so complex. Maybe not for everyone, but I dig it.

Rosé
2020 Dirty and Rowdy Syrah Rosé Brosseau Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone
90 points
Raw, fresh, glou glou. Beaujolais-like. Juicy, fresh berries and clean and crisp. Just a crushable rose that you should be drinking this summer!

Flight 2 (2 notes)

White
2014 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
95 points
Hints of mint, minerals, and flint on the nose. Still youthful, but excellent concentration, good energy and clean pure white fruit that is long and expansive with pretty, silky texture on the palate. Very pretty and harmonious Corton Charlemagne.
White
1998 Weingut Josef Jamek Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Achleiten Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau
Just fantastic showing. Really interesting nose that is marked by a present and appealing smoky note. Apple and pear fruit. There's a nice richness to the fruit, but it's balanced deftly with a fresh acidity. Really liked this one.

Flight 3 (5 notes)

Red
2007 Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
95 points
So very Dujac-y! Nose is full-on stemmy, sous bois, cherry, earth, tea and more. Spicy, seductive, sinewy. A modern polish, with Burgundian sensibilities. Acidity in harmony with fruit and earth tones. Terrific balance. Drinking very well. A gem of a wine.
Red
2000 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
A fully mature and tasty Malconsorts. Less flashy and ebullient than the Dujac next to it, yet, it's serious textbook Burgundy. Earthy and more tertiary fruit. Round and supple. Very nice, if less overtly Vosne.
Red
1971 Fontanafredda Barolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
See Biskuit's note. Actually, this was the best drinking Barolo of the three on the table. Still lively and drinking well. 50 year old Barolo is always a treat.
Red
1993 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Not a great bottle, or just not enough air. Popped the cork, poured out an ounce, recorked and drank at restaurant about 3 hours later. Initially, it showed pretty much as the last few notes on CT: nose that's vegetal, almost VA-like, oxidized and, honestly, not attractive. And it never really went to far from there. Some underlying cherry and earth emerged, but the joy was mostly masked. We did not decant, prob should have, as it just never came around to much even 4+ hours after being opened.

Opened alongside the '93. This was still so young. So much power in reserve. Showing some oak. Rather big-boned and shiny. Seems to have everything in place, just cloaked by some structure. Should have decanted. Or just come back in 5 years.
