Introduction

Everybody brought 1-2 bottles and tasted the others blind

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2020 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Veldenzer Elisenberg Riesling Alte Reben trocken Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

[Blind tasted] Correctly identified as a Mosel Riesling (as I should as I drunk it 2 months ago at the winery). On the nose grapefruit, tangerine, slight hint of petrol. On the palate unripe tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), peach and grapefruit in the long finish. Seems to contain a bit of RS. High acidity
Rosé
2010 R. López de Heredia Rioja Rosado Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja

[not tasted blind as it was the wine I brought] Clearly the WOTN and as great as almost a year ago, when I first tasted it. Amazingly complex and still very very drinkable! On the nose marzipan, iodine, nutty, oxidative in nature, cranberry, apple, spices, fennel, dill. On the palate honey, red fruit (strawberry), nutty. Very, very long honey finish

Still many, many years ahead

2015 Clos des Fous Pinot Noir Latuffa Traiguen Chile, Malleco Valley, Traiguen

[Tasted blind] Correctly identified as pinot noir from the new world. Not in balance overall, rather elegant on the nose, but very ripe, plumb and overextracted on the palate with outrageously high alcohol for a pinot (15,5%!)
Red
2017 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

[Tasted blind] not identified as CdP. Almost purple in color and on the nose cranberry, strawberry, gingerbread and on the palate bay leaf, red and black fruit. Soft but present tannins. Long finish
Red
1996 Fernando Remírez de Ganuza Rioja Reserva Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja

[Not tasted blind as I brought this bottle] Incorrectly identified by the others as an 2000-2005 left bank Bordeaux. Quite tertairy, with ceder, pencil lead, bit of barnyard, leather, cherries, black berries, maggi, green bell pepper and a hint of menthol. Long finish

Clearly a bit past its peak, but very enjoyable nonetheless

[Tasted blind] Very much muted and one-dimensional; kirsch, bit barnyard, chocolate

At almost €50 quite horrible QPR
