Flight 1 (7 notes)

White - Off-dry
2018 Peter Louis Guntrum Flonheimer Klostergarten Huxelrebe Spätlese Germany, Rheinhessen
90 points
Pale lemon, and a slight green hue. Medium sweet, and somewhat heightened acids, though not as high as what I had expected, with peach, slight apples, and a rather stony, slately nose. Somewhat straightforward, but pretty pleasant
Rosé
2017 Joël et Sylvie Cirotte Sancerre Rosé Domaine La Croix Saint-Laurent France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre
90 points
Pale orange, and silvery. Light bodied, with mouthwatering acids, whilst with red peach, almond, and rose floral flavours, as well as flint on the nose and the backpalate. Medium length

White - Sparkling
N.V. Pierre-Marie Chermette Chardonnay Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Burgundy, Crémant de Bourgogne
92 points
Pale lemon with silvery hue, and fine beads. Lemon zest, white flowers, and almonds, as well as clean bread dough. A classic Blanc de Blancs that can hold its own against the greats of Champagne
Red
1969 Château Duhart-Milon France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
Medium tawny. Tannins completely soft and resolved, with very tertiary flavours of cooked tart cherry, brambles, red flowers, cloves, pepper, and pencil shavings towards the back. Long finish. No doubt it would have gone past the hill, the resultant flavours are still enjoyable. Nice!
Red
1996 Tahbilk Shiraz Reserve Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Nagambie Lakes
91 points
Deep garnet. Intense cooked cassis aromas. Still a bit of bite from the tannins, while having flavours of very ripe black cherry and chocolate and tar, as if a fine Blackforest cake, then cinnamon and nutmeg. Finish seemed slightly lacking though, but in general an enjoyable wine
Red
2018 Bodega Noemia de Patagonia A Lisa Argentina, Patagonia, Río Negro
90 points
Deep purple, with thick legs. Strong dark floral aromas and flavours, as well as ripe blackcurrant, then a hint of toast, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves, suggesting that at least a bit of French oak may have been used. Medium length
Red
2005 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley
92 points
Deep garnet, with significantly fading edges. Full bodied, yet soft tannins, with herbal flavours, ripe black cherry and tar, as well as a bit of smokes, and a little bit of savoury meats towards the back. Pretty lengthy and complex. Nice!
