Introduction

Long time reunion with some SoCal sexies.

Flight 1 (9 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
2018 Jérôme Prévost La Closerie Fac-Simile France, Champagne
92 points
Ripe strawberries and candied red fruit. Great balance, very easy to crush. A small step behind the LC17. Needs time.

Drink the LC15s if you have them!

A young LC18. Ripe strawberries and candied red fruit. Great balance, very easy to crush. A small step behind the LC17. Needs time.

Drink the LC15s if you have them!
White - Sparkling
2009 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Les Blanches Voies France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
90 points
Ripe apples, brioche, good precision. Changed a bit over a few hours, but nothing too compelling. Not a unique offering and definitely not worth the price.
White
2000 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
90 points
I didn't hate this as much as others did, but it definitely didn't perform to its price point, either. Pretty waxy with just moderate energy. Started of funky, almost reminding me of a corked wine, and then it just gives honeyed fruits. Clipped finish. Part of me thinks it was flawed, but it also wasn't quite flawed enough...

Rhone whites, bb.
Red
2018 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
95 points
Wow, this is a spectacular wine. Love the richness and opulence, so much fruit density and sensual spices. Beautiful aromas, long finish. I could drink this all day.
Red
2017 Cecile Tremblay Bourgogne Côte d'Or France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Côte d'Or
93 points
Beautiful wine. Think it was decanted, so I didn't get any of the expected heavy reduction. Rich fruit, spices, and dark florals. Wayyyy better than what's expected at this designation. Really happy drinking this.
Red
2008 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
90 points
Always a pleasure to drink Vogue, but as usual, it started off a bit mousey. Nice perfumed aromas afterwards, but never quite picks up the weight or material needed to live up to its perceived reputation.
Spirits
2021 Chichibu Ichiro's Malt The US Edition Japan, Kantō, Saitama
93 points
Much darker in color than the prior releases, looking like a bourbon. Loved it though. More umph and balance than the 2018 (which was also phenomenal, btw).
Red
1983 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection USA, California, Napa Valley
91 points
Served blind. I guessed early 90s Cab. Bah. At least I didn't call maderized Burgundy like someone did... ha.

Drink up ASAP. This is much softer than what's expected from Caymus SS. Classic profile, but not likely to improve. Slightly past its peak already, but can still be enjoyable if you don't mind that.
