Great Wines

White - Sparkling
2006 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
95 points
97 points Wine Enthusiast, small bubbles formed a medium size mousse in the glass, nose like a spring bouquet, sliced apple, lemon, slate, shale, cinnamon, spices, Ginger Ale, and freshly baked cherry pie, same on the palate, big body, mouth filling, very tasty, the best sparkling wine from California since the days of S. Anderson many years ago, elegant, complexity and flavors were renewed with each new pour from the bottle, good acid held everything together, at peak, easily last if properly cellared for another 5 years, wonderful, lingering, long finish, and subtle aftertaste, photo uploaded.
Red
1988 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
97 points
Nose of rich fruit, blackberry, cassis, lots of floral notes like freshly picked black berrys, earth after a spring rain, and forest floor, same on the palate, very tasty, elegant, big body, no tannins, at peak, easily last another 10 years, mouth filling fruit from the start, renewed with each pour, and continued during the three hour lunch finished, rich fruit, wonderful with the Rib Eye Steak, and a long, long, long finish ad lingering aftertaste, photo uploaded.

1988 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
94 points
Nose of cigar box, black berry, and hints of forest floor, slightly closed nose, hint of bret, same on the palate, medium/big body, mouth filling fruit, rich fruit, very tasty, slightly tired compared to the Chateau Pichon Baron today, think time to drink this up if it's in your cellar, open immediately but slightly muted nose throughout the lunch today, held up well during the three hour lunch, and a long finish, photo uploaded.
