Introduction

Little vertical of Senejac - the cork on the 82 is too delicate to withstand the Coravin, even with the vintage needle

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Red
2004 Château Sénéjac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
From Coravin. Leather, wet earth, a little cream, brambles, savoury and sweet spice, cedar, with agitation a touch of wild blackcurrant, getting tertiary meaty notes as well. Savoury, meaty, juicy brambles, tannins are drying, medium plus intensity and floury textured, tiny touch of sourness here. Needs hearty stew. Drink (or hold if you like 'em old).

From Coravin. Polished oak, caramel, toast, cedar, blackcurrant lozenge, slight black cherry, plums, sweet spice, generous but primary nose. And the palate is equally fruit driven with secondary oak characteristics, gets increasingly creamy on the finish, tannins are subdued, softly yielding...micro ox? Pretty though.

2010 Château Sénéjac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
From Coravin. Blackcurrant, touch of Ribena, plum, slight herbaceous underpin, cedar, sweet spice, with agitation starts to show a little alcohol prickle, more blackberry and slight raisin notes. Medium plus intensity acidity, tight, grainy tannins, fruit present but behind both of these attributes. Long, savoury, time required.

From Coravin. Wild blackcurrant over plums with cream, cedar, sweet spice, caramel in support, smells a little dilute but also has a jubey element with some fruit tea. Medium plus intensity acidity, again slightly dilute but with that jubey fruit note and a little creaminess. Tannins are drying, quite floury textured, all persist long in a slightly muted fashion. Balanced, lightweight but nice.

From Coravin. Hmm, initially a little cellar stink, it's quite muted on the nose, a touch of red over blackcurrant, sweet and savoury spice, mud, red plum. With time and agitation it starts to show a little riper and more jubey fruit. Ooh, this one is quite sour and bitter on the finish with hard green tannins, fruit more red spectrum, touches of rhubarb. Meh.

2015 Château Sénéjac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
From Coravin. Biscuit, plums, blackcurrant, almost a little plain chocolate, sweet spice, fruit tea, herbaceous underpin. Juicy, fleshy, savoury black fruits and sweet spice travel long joined by tight drying talc textured tannins, again a little creaminess to the finish, balanced by young. Time.

From Coravin. A little closed/reticent on the nose, muted, savoury plums over blackcurrant and pyrazine with agitation and alcoholic prickle and wild blackcurrant jam on toast. On the palate it is, unsurprisingly, still very young but not awkward or ungainly. Black fruit, juicy acid and drying tannins, persist long hand in hand, very nice indeed but time required.
