Introduction

Just grabbed a little selection of older of Bordeaux to have a little look at. Call it an aftershock following the En Primeur earthquake...

Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
1983 Château Cos Labory France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
From Coravin. Aromas of biscuit, earth, leather, a little charcuterie, dusty red fruits, baking spices, a slightly almost resinous note. In the mouth it's juicy, just the right side of sour - more in the refreshing spectrum, lightweight with fruit tea and red berry flavours as well as the earthy, leathery tertiary notes. Tannins are a whisper. Pleasant. I'm thinking a meaty white fish, poached, some form of cream sauce, new potatoes, Sunday lunch and fairly soon.
Red
1986 Château Potensac France, Bordeaux, Médoc
From Coravin. On the nose it shows Asian five spice, black fruits, cedar, a little cigar box, earth and a sense of denseness, compared to the other two wines and some leathery notes. In the mouth it juicy with medium minus intensity flavours of wild brambly fruit with the tertiary notes in support, tannins tug at the tongue and gritty on the mid palate. Finishes long with a little alcohol warmth assisting. Nice
Red
1982 Château Potensac France, Bordeaux, Médoc
From Coravin. Initially a little cellar stink which blows off to show leathery black fruits, sweet spice, porcini, wet earth; quite Autumnal notes. In the mouth it's dense, a little sour, brambly fruits, like the Cos Labory the tannins are fully resolved, a little alcohol warmth on the slightly short finish. Drink up for me on this taste.
