Medium plus intensity aromas show pretty floral and fruit especially melon, sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy, fruit forward, simple, quaffable.

Polished oak, perfumed dark fruits, plenty of spice, textured butt is slightly drying, tangy, fruit slightly subsumed here.

Pretty, lithe entry wine but more concentrated and with a little more complexity – it shows citrus and stone fruit as well as the melon note. Sweet spice. Medium plus intensity acidity and it proves a little sharp on the palate. Hmm

Ooh, struck match, slightly funky, red currant and red berries, plenty of spice. Juicy, fleshy, textured on themed palate after an initial red fruit splash. Okay

Meaty, savoury, black fruits, touch of reductive rubberiness, tight and tarry…this struggles a bit because of that reductive note on the palate. A good decant would help here.

Low intensity aromas initially. With agitation shows quite earthy with a little polished black fruit…In the mouth it has medium plus intensity acidity, savoury black fruits but a little muted, what is there travels long and the wine is balanced – handles its alcohol warmth very well. Okay

Savoury dark hued fruits, berries, plums, a little sweet and savoury spice, concentrated without being overblown. The palate reflects the nose, cats tongue rasp tannins, eminently approachable. Very good

Ooh, smoky, a little green, red hued fruits. Wetly juicy, a little sweet and sour with the emphasis on the latter. Ugh

Too cold to really smell anything, aggressive mousse, party, chalky tannins. No thanks on this tasting

Struck match, peach, sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy, stone fruit, slight butter, finishes a little bitter with a touch of alcohol warmth. Meh

Medium minus intensity aromas of dusty spice backed by red berries, slightly smoky. It’s not very nice on the palate, a little cherry lozenge the only saving grace. Nah

Slightly reductive…Agitation shows perfumed black hued fruits – berries over plums, plenty of spice. Thick mouth coating tannins and fruit. The sensation is akin to having the wine sprayed into your mouth. Hmm

Sweet spice, walnuts, creams, figs, baking spice, it’s a touch spiritous on the nose as well. In the mouth it’s initially juicy but then the sugar proves a little cloying

Concentrated, jammy, dense, spice, new oak…nose says years required. Palate more approachable but this is positively porty. Very old school

Old school jammy black berry, sweet spice, dialled back oak, a touch of reductiveness. On the palate the reductiveness is present but the jamminess still showing, talc textured tannins are quite drying. Hmm.

Blacked hued fruit, plenty of oak, a little peppery spice, polished, balanced in an oak heavy way. Juicy, fleshy, slightly hard tannins but chewy. Oak shows through on the palate as well. Nice in an oaky way.

Caramel and vanilla over slightly reductive ripe black fruit and a smidge of peppery spice. Palate a reflection of the nose, tannins are drying, slightly silky textured tannins. Okay.

Initially pretty, slightly jubey black over red hued fruit, sweet spice. Juicy, fruity, slightly chalky, grainy tannins. Tannins are persistent and dominate at the moment.

Served very cold. Struck match, lemon over stone fruit. Juicy acidity but the reductive note dominates the palate.

Medium minus intensity aromas show very slightly reductive, sweet spice, blackberry, and a very slight black pepper note. Juicy, savoury with fresh almost crunchy black fruit but finishes a little savoury, easy tannins

Clean, polished oak, dark hued fruit cherry, berry, sweet spice. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, sot burr, fruit persistent clean, perhaps a little anonymous after all the Pinots at the Moncur Cellars tasting.

Oak!!! Baked earth, black fruits, if you can get past the oak on the nose this is quite balanced. In the mouth it’s fleshy, juicy on the palate but the oak is just too much here as well. Time may help. Or not.

Blackcurrant and blackberry, slight tomato leaf, slightly meaty notes. Alcohol warmth lends this a bit of a cough medicine feel. Time may help but it’s not very pleasant currently.

Medium minus intensity aromas of black currant, a little tomato leaf. In the mouth it’s got juicy acidity, fleshy, wild black currant, tannic burr but this is wetly enjoyable – nose not so hot but palate is pleasing. Yum

Fresh red berry, pencil shavings, pepper, a little musty note. Simple, juicy, fresh, skinny and short on the palate…I must confess I wanted a bit more stuffing.

Medium minus intensity aromas of polished oak, slightly muted and moderately anonymous black fruits, cream, a little spice. Again, the palate is better than the nose but, for me, it’s not quite in balance. Hmm

Aromas of butter, fresh stone fruit backed by a little sweet spice. Its juicy, fleshy but a little tight with reductive notes, clean but lacks a little fruit on the palate. Hmm

Ripe blackberry, a little plum, pinch of black pepper all with a sense of denseness. Tight, ripe black fruit loses delineation, time will help but it’s a bit meh at the moment

Candied red cherry, a certain charcuterie notes, touch of wet tobacco leaf. Juicy acid, grainy tannins, soft and slight sweet baked fruits, balanced but it’s not pressing my buttons.

Initially savoury and reductive, ripe black fruit – think blackberry jam…Medium plus intensity acidity, tangy, tight, not so jammy on the palate, alight alcohol warmth. Hmm.

Sweet spice over blackcurrant and berry; ripe. Thick dense, chewy black hued fruits, a little green underpin to the chalky tannins.

Served very cold. Struck match, reductive notes rather dominates butter and toast. Sourly juicy on the palate, lemon, textured, a little butter, stone fruit. Out of whack. Not for me.

A little muted, with a shake it shows polished oak, Ribena with a slightly sour note, sweet spice, a little clay. In the mouth it’s fleshy, concentrated, chewy tannins, woof, time and lots of it

Spicy, oaky, polished oak, cedar, fruit a little muted and so it proves on the palate, woody, slightly sour fruit.

Muted peach and polished oak, a little sweet spice, and a very slight struck match note. In the mouth it’s quite sharp and tangy on the palate, a little too sour for me. Nah

Perfumed, pretty and jubey black berry and currant with savoury and sweet spice. That jubbiness translates to the palate as well, blackcurrant, fresh as nice.

Black hued fruits, plenty of sweet spice. Surprisingly juicy, fleshy, tangy, chalky tannins, concentrated without being overbearing. Nice

Ripe cabernet nose – baked but not jammy blackcurrant. Surprisingly slightly sour on the palate with chalky textured, tight tannins. Not so good.

Medium minus intensity aromas show peach, green apple and lime. Medium plus intensity acidity and this proves far more lime concentrate, linear and front to back of the mouth on the palate

Slightly reductive with blue and blackberry, a little sweet spice. In the mouth it’s thickly dense without being overtly jammy, alcohol lends a peppery prickle. Kind of fun.
