Introduction

Overall high level, and especially impressive to experience how high level the Queen of Burgundy has on her regional and municipal wines!

Flight 1 - Opening Champagne (2 notes)

First for calibration, the second for pleasure.

White - Sparkling
N.V. Egly-Ouriet Champagne Les Prémices France, Champagne
92 points
17 base. Golden towards amber in color. Looks and smells like a developed wine. Pasteries, malt, and hints of basement on the nose. On the palate, the wine gives the impression of ripe fruit, it has high acidity and a decent length. Yellow apples gradually become prominent.
White - Sparkling
2007 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
95 points
Light straw yellow, brilliant. Soft and round nose. Floral. Vanilla pastries, yeats, flint, and minerals with a touch of citrus. In the mouth, the wine has high acidity. Salt, sea, and citrus. Apple fruit. Long and a bottle of very good wine

Flight 2 - Leroy Whites (3 notes)

White
2007 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne-Aligoté France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté
92 points
Golden yellow. Mighty nose. Petrol, oil, and lubricants. With air it eased a little; nuts and marzipan and hints of citrus. On the palate, the wine is rich. Burned matches, citrus, and almonds. Oily. Long finish that is in continuous development. Complex.
White
2015 Maison Leroy Auxey-Duresses Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses
92 points
Dark straw yellow. Again a massive, complex, and violent nose. Newly laid flooring, citrus, nuts, and raw rubber. Toast, burned match, tea, mint, and caramel. In the mouth, the wine is experienced as fresh and with good acidity. Butter, toast, freshly washed floor, and pines. With air, the wine gets a sweet touch. Beautiful use of oak and a long finish.
White
2015 Benjamin Leroux Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
95 points
Golden yellow. On the nose, the wine is experienced as light, clean and fresh, delicate and welcoming. Citrus and oak tones and the wine gets a sweeter touch with air - almost floral. On the palate, the wine is viscous. It has high acidity and feels fresh. Orange peel, iced tea, peach, and mint. A delicious wine. Textbook P M? Impressive and interesting how different the same vintage, grape, and producer can taste! A delicious wine.

Flight 3 - Laeroy Reds (3 notes)

Opened the flight with a blind Cathiard.

Red
2015 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
96 points
Deep dark red, with no discoloration towards the edge. Nose with deep red fruit. Very clear smell of dark cherries. Spice, pepper, perfume, leather, and earth tones. Complex. In the mouth, fantastic acidity and velvet tannins give the wine a wonderful grip. Red, crisp fruit, red apple, perfume, spices, and sweet licorice. Violent wine (in an elegant way). Damn long.
Red
1998 Maison Leroy Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
92 points
Deep red against brick. Again; a complex nose with mushroom stew, lightly moistened tobacco pouch, tar, quayside, honey, tea, and fruit syrup. Morels and early autumn are also mentioned around the table, along with mild perfume and dried meat. Elegant and smooth. In the mouth, it is delicate with precise red fruit. Elegant and smooth, but great acid structure keeps the wine well up. Finish with light licorice. Surprisingly high level for a 24-year-old wine at regional level.
Red
2015 Maison Leroy Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
94 points
About a barrel produced (300ish bottles). Nose with concentrated fruit. Pepper, spice, wax, bright red berries, spring, summer forest, and meadow. Perfume. The palate is appealing with slim, sour fruit, red berries, and floral spices. Clean, precise, and nice. Smooth but with a tight and long finish. Good, just good to enjoy.

Closing

Most of the wines were brought back at the end of the tasting. The wines had continued its development in the decanter over the span of the tasting. None of them had gone even close to faulty, only been getting better.
