White - Sparkling
2012 Dhondt-Grellet Champagne Grand Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Vieille Vigne Le Bateau France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

The nose is deep and pristine with a spring-like nature to the tones of saline, white peaches, pears, apples, white fruits, ginger, white flowers, meyer lemons, minerals, biscuits, and some doughy notes. This may be young, but it is expressive and refined. The Medium bodied feel is elegant and deep with racy, high acidity. The finish just doesn't want to stop while the freshness and springtime qualities of the nose beautifully carry through. I would love to try this again after it sees some age. This is wonderful now and there feels like there is even more for it to give.
White - Sparkling
2014 Déhu Père & Fils Champagne Cuvée La Rue des Noyers Extra Brut France, Champagne
92 points
The nose is immediate and open with a toasty take to the tones of brioche, biscuits, red apples, quince, bosc pears, red berries, yeasty notes, roses, and some mineral tones. The Medium bodied feel shows off excellent depth and robustness with tart, high acidity. This could possibly use another year or two to fully balance out and harmonize. This shows a larger scaled quality and there are a few rough edges. Still, this is a real winner and one which I wish I was able to spend more time with.

2009 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
91 points
The nose is open and giving with a darker take to the fruit with tones of raspberries, dark red cherries, herbs, leather, tobacco, violets, and earth tones. This is well balanced with the fruit still showing a more primary quality that has harmonized well so far. The Medium bodied feel is balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. This was helped by food as the structure still has some youth to it. This is already starting to show pretty well and there is still plenty of room to grow.

2015 Maison Albert Bichot Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Domaine du Pavillon France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
90 points
The nose is a little tight, but with tart tones of dark red cherries, raspberries, herbs, sour berries, thyme, spice notes, earth, violets, and tobacco. The Medium bodied feel has good density and balance with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. There is a good bit of flesh on this right now and it will take the better part of 6+ years to fully sort itself out.

2013 Domaine Heresztyn/Heresztyn-Mazzini Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champonnets France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
89 points
The nose is balanced and fragrant with tones of red cherries, raspberries, violets, spice notes, herbs, roses, licorice, and perfumes. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and refined, but slightly lacking in depth with crisp,, medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are a little stiff and chewy, showing off the youth of the wine. I would like to see where this goes with another 4+ years when the structure resolves more.

2010 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
92 points
The nose is savory and open with darker tones of raspberries, violets, dark red cherries, dark red berries, earth notes, licorice, spice, and leather tones. There is excellent depth and style with an openness already that is heady and enjoyable. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and lengthy with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. The structure is peeling back with the feel showing a round quality. This can certainly age further and this feels like it has more to give even with it showing itself to be pretty open already.

2008 Philippe Leclerc Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
88 points
The nose is balanced and fragrant with dark red cherries, raspberries, spice notes, herbs, licorice, and some tones of violets. The Medium bodied feel carries through the balance of the nose, but it does lack some depth. The structure is integrating and balanced with crisp, medium+ acidity and taught, medium+ tannins. This probably could use a few more years of aging, but I don't know how much better it will truly get.

2005 Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin en Champs France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
91 points
The nose is expressive and with a brightness to the red fruits of red cherries, raspberries, plums, herbs, spice notes, red fruits, roses, violets, and some earth notes. This is still on the primary side, but it is wide open and giving. The Medium bodied feel is plush and silky with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. The structure has pulled back a bit and has allowed the feel to shine. There is plenty of life ahead of it and I would love to see where it goes with a few more years.

2006 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Les Fremiets France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
93 points
The nose is expressive and savory with flowing tones of sour red cherries, raspberries, violets, licorice, warm mushrooms, red flowers, earth, leather, and some perfumes. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and deep with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The structure has pulled back a lot at this point while the tones still show a primary nature. This is drinking beautifully right now, but there is plenty of room for it to grow. This feels like it will be a very long-lived Volnay.

2008 Domaine Dublère Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
91 points
The nose is balanced and fragrant with strawberries, red cherries, raspberries, violets, crushed red flowers, herbs, and a bit of tobacco. This is more elegant than savory with a nuanced nature. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and silky with crisp, medium+ acidity and and refined, medium tannins. There is still some youth to the structure, but the nose is perfumed and really pretty. This can definitely age and develop for at least another 6+ years, but it is in a very happy place right now.
