Introduction

A fun Blind tasting with a bunch of people bailing but that worked out great as six of us got to go back and revisit the wines. Drew Fog Eater and Leclerc were wines of the night. Fog Eater had four of the six first place votes and my wine of the night.

Flight 1 (8 notes)

Red
2014 Bergström Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
88 points
Tasted blind. 2 glass over 3 hours. This was my 2nd least favorite wine and not a big fan of Bergstrom in general. So many better in Willamette. Earth, mushroom, violets and underbrush. Shorter finish and lacks personality. This for sure is drink now. (2 totals votes)

Red
2013 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Côte Sud Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
93 points
Tasted Blind. My second favorite wine of the night. Nice fruit featuring cherry and strawberry. Floral, flint, bramble, dust and earth. Medium plus finish and nice acidity. This has plenty left in the tank and should drink well through 2028. 93+ points (7 total points)

Red
2017 Ayres Vineyard Pinot Noir Lewis Rogers Lane Ribbon Ridge USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge
92 points
Tasted blind. Sour cherry, dust, minerals, spices and red currants. Good acidity and balanced wine. A solid effort and good value. (2 total points)
Red
2019 Drew Family Cellars Pinot Noir Fog Eater USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
94 points
Tasted blind. I have had these 2 other times and still did not know this was my wine. Volcanic ash, floral, mild funk, strawberry, earth and wild mushrooms. Super complex offering and the most exciting wines a the tasting. 4 first place votes out of six people. (14 points) Tied for wine of the night.
Red
2018 Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Russian River Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
88 points
Tasted blind. Candied fruits, cranberry, floral and smoke. Just not the kind of Pinot I want to drink. Could use more acidity to balance out the wine. Really over-priced in my opinion. The only bottle with 1/4 fill left at the end of the night if that tells you anything. (1 point)
White - Sweet/Dessert
2010 Lieutenant de Sigalas France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
85 points
How someone has given this wine 94 and 96 is beyond me. Probably got this one mixed up with the other Sigalas. Semi sweet with apricots, honey suckles and light fruits. Lacks concentration and structure. Needs more acidity also. Weak effort.
Red
2013 Adelsheim Pinot Noir Bryan Creek Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains
92 points
Day 2: Burnt toast, raspberries, strawberries, earth, damp leaves and soy sauce. Medium finish and good acidity. Very enjoyable overall.
