White
2015 Acroterra Assyrtiko Santorini Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Santorini
95 points
Maybe the original unicorn of Assyrtiko, the first really to sport a price higher than 100€ and the original super cuvée of Santorini that actually deserved and still does the title.
The 2015 is not dotted with noble oxidation in the was the Hatzidakis Louros is but also maintained the beauty and excellence of this noble grape. Still very much mineral and saline, firm and focussed just more evolved than what we expected. A wine that needs to be tried to be experienced. 95
Red
2017 Dalamara Winery Xinomavro Vieilles Vignes Greece, Macedonia, Naoussa
95 points
The unicorn of unicorns , one barrel made and frankly deserves the hype and once well aged this could well be the best red ever made in Greece.
For now it is young for sure but with a good hour of decant opened up well and albeit we saw but glimpses of its greatness we do have to say the greatness is there and at this stage is a blend of a Cote Rotie with Barolo. Effortlessly elegant and we plan of ageing these ( we have a few) for the next decade albeit probably will open a few along the to observe the greatness evolving. 95 for now but easily a few more points in the tank.
Red
1985 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
94 points
We spotted this from afar at the wine list of Elystan Street , London and given the greatness of the vintage we could not bu try. Granted is no La La but still a magnificent wine. Nose of smoky roast meat, spice and herbs. The high point of the wine. The palate is well evolved and as it never had the density of the La Las this is now on the thin side. Healthy and beautiful but better one drinks this sooner than later. 93-94
White - Sweet/Dessert
2021 Winnica Turnau Solaris Szlachetny Zbiór Poland, Zachodniopomorskie, Gryfino
93 points
Proposed by the sommelier at Elystan Street, London as one of the wines to try from his home country of Poland. A touch of Riesling feel but really had we not know what this was we would have said straw wine made of Sauvignon Blanc. Well made, harmonious and really like an auslese level of sweet wine. Very pretty. 92-93
