White
2009 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chateniere Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

Contrary to the others I felt this was from a warmer year. Guessed 2009 Chassagne since it didn’t have the characteristics of a Meursault or Puligny. Quite round but still yellow-fruited compared to the 2011 which was more tropical. Good acidity at the start but became flabbier with air. Think Lamy prices for these more basic cuvées are out of whack.
White
2011 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chateniere Blanc Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

My vintage guess again was contrary to the table. Guessed a cooler year like 2013 while the others thought warmer, but I didn't figure out this was the same wine as the first. Richer and more tropical fruit than the 2009 but there was an underlying leanness to this. Others liked this more than I did, felt this was overworked.
White
2020 Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
91 points
Guessed a young Puligny from 2018 since it felt like it was from a warm, ripe year. Lots of unintegrated oak but I think this will be a good wine once everything comes together. Enjoyed the zesty fruit that was clearly of very good quality.
White
2011 Marquis de Laguiche (Joseph Drouhin) Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Thought this showed quite similarly to the O. Leflaive with a creamy texture and citrus fruit so I guessed 2014 Puligny. Well-integrated at this stage save for a slight sweetness on the finish. I love Drouhin’s reds but should seek out their whites too, they are decidedly old-school in the rounder style without being too heavy.
White
2012 Fernand & Laurent Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
90 points
Under DIAM. Brought for a friend, paired this with the Niellon to compare if plot or producer would prevail. Classically proportioned white Burgundy that was well-resolved. Green apple fruit with a slightly bitter finish. Even split among the table but I preferred the Niellon.
White
2017 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
My contribution. Paired this with the Pillot to compare if plot or producer would prevail. Niellon has a bad rep for overdoing it on the oak but think they’ve dialled back in recent vintages. Liked how this straddled new and old-school well. A balanced, quintessential white Burgundy that is ready to go.
White
2009 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
88 points
Brought for a friend. Rich, old-school white Burgundy that was too heavy-handed and exotic for me. Dominant honey, nutty and apricot notes, showed the heat of 2009. Would drink these up as this was before Jadot switched to DIAM.
White
2017 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet

Brought for a friend. Combined weight with tension and minerality. Another 2017 that had superb balance. Second favourite on the night.
White
2008 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
flawed
Unsurprisingly premoxed.
White
2019 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault Clos de la Barre France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
93 points
Guessed 2018 new-school Meursault from a top quality maker in the Pierre Girardin vein so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a Lafon. Attractive gunflint notes on the nose, zesty lemon fruit with sharp acidity. Fantastic length. Superbly balanced and a very generous pull. WOTN for me and a few others.
Red
2012 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
91 points
A generous extra red. Guessed 2011/13 since it came across as a cool vintage Gevrey. Rather stemmy with five spice and savoury notes. It did become more elegant with air but was rather rustic for a H-N.
