Roasted strawberries, christmas spices. Clove, allspice, juniper. Mulchy undergrowth. Book leather. Rich and deep smell, sweet fruit. Medium bodied, tannins fully resolved. Just enough acid. Still very mouth filling. Orange peel. Outstanding wine.

Dark rich fruit, iron, savoury. Liquorice, a hint of clove or cinnamon. Parmaviolet sweets. Full bodied, polished but very firm tannins. Long sweet fruit finish. Enjoyable now but will improve over many years yet.

Red cherry, hibiscus, aniseed. Leather, orange peel and a touch of menthol. Bramble and moss, undergrowth. Medium bodied, bright and fresh. Fennel towards the end of the mouthful. Polished but grippy tannin. A sense of aroma in the mouth. Lovely savoury finish. Excellent. Became a bit weightier as the bottle remained open for a few hours.

Red fruit, reticent nose, herbal. Powerfully alcoholic, tart and astringent but satisfying rose wine. Really tastes of Nebbiolo.

Very dark purple. Plum, loads of ripe fruit. Floral. Sour cherry, violet, tart and coarse. Fresh. Good.

Strawberry, strawberry syrup, citrus. Great silky mouthfeel. Strong tannic bite and some floral notes on the finish. Good.

Dark fruit, dark colour. Green herbs. Opened up to show more plum. A bit muddy smelling. Interesting though. Strong tannin, a lovely herbal or medicinal bitterness to the finish.

Citrus, floral, no noticeable oak. Fresh bramble, polished but substantial tannin. High acid. Slightly less expressive of strawberry and fruit than the Langhe Nebbiolo, but more substantial.

Rich, ripe smell, violet, herbal, bags of fruit. Intersting savoury salty note on the finish. Young but polished.

Slightly lighter colour than the classico. Herbal, violet again, powerful smell. Bags of substance. Orange peel. Lovely.

Marzipan, orange, dried herbs. Great length and persistence. Drying tannin. Still young but coming into drinkability.

Sweeter fruit than the Sarmassa but more straightforward in total. Violet and strawberry, polished, very firm tannins. Excellent.

Plum, cherry, touch of vanilla perhaps. Cherry stone, herbal, high acid, lower tannin than the Nebbiolos of course.

Dark fruit, purple colour, rich, tart acid, herbal.

Tight smell, some wood, menthol, eucalyptus, balsamic, of course red fruit. Medium body, high tannin. Decent balance and roundness.

Interesting smell, herbal and balsamic. Fresher and lighter than the 2019 classico. Polished but powerful tannins. Needs time time time.

Open smell, strawberry, balsamic, sweet fruit. Very round and lush. Grainy tannin. Good value.

Dark fruit, herbal. A good load of tannin. Eucalyptus. Solid Barolo.

Soft smell, reticent. Eucalyptus, strawberry. Peppery and earthy. Muscular and a bit rough.

Fresh smell, bright flowers. Medium bodied and polished. Excellent length. Will mature nicely.

Cigar smoke, spice, wood. Eucalyptus and the other usual Barolo smells. Astringent tannins. Slightly unusual and not for me.

Strawberry, balsamic, cherry stone. Elegant and polished. Needs more time. Quite a big wine.

Red fruit, menthol. Strong astringency. Powerful and polished. Very good.

Smoke, herbal and vegetal. Powerful but surprisingly pale. Interesting.

Light colour, bright and fragrant. Red fruit and spice.

*** Not 100% sure on the name of this wine, my notes were poor and I couldn't find the label online, it is their Barolo "classico" if I remember rightly.

Floral, light, clean. Cool and fresh. Not too tannic. Very good.

Balsamic, strawberry, good length and grip. Not as round and approachable as most of the 2019s.

Super aromatic, floral, not so far from a Gerwurztraminer. Light body, slightly sour finish. Not for me.

Red fruit, strawberry, balsamic, good body and balance. Excellent. Has everything and won't need long to mature!

Red fruit, eucalyptus, very substantial in the mouth. Deep and concentrated. Lovely wine.

Spice, relatively rich for a Langhe Nebbiolo, red fruit. Cherry. Very good Nebbiolo.

Muted smell, dark fruit, mulchy, translucent. Medium bodied with crunchy tannins. Very good.

Jumped out of the glass at me. Amazing floral and sweet fruit smell. Cake spice and rose. The sweet fruit smell carries on in to the finish. A full load of tannins. Needs time to come together but very good.

Fresh, white fruit, lemon, apricot. Almond. Really good Arneis.

Balsamic, all spice, juniper. Grippy tannin. Long finish. Very good.

Clove, tar, a bit of leather. Muted smell, the 2019 classico is better. Still a decent wine though.

Tangy red fruit, crisp and fresh. Some floral notes.

One of the highlights of this tasting. Sweet red fruit, rose, violet. Succulent in the mouth and mouthcoating. Quite a big wine. Grippy and long. Excellent.

Better this year than others. Redcurrant, cherry, cherry stone. Fennel, some spice. Clove. Very good.

Weaker than the 2019 in every way, but still good sweet fruit and floral smell, violet. Good concentration and a well made wine.

Mineral, iron, stoney granite. Grippy in the mouth and less rounded and full than the Barbaresco classico. Orange peel. Wonderful length and elegance. Needs time.

Strawberry syrup, herbal, acetone. Spicy in the mouth. Lovely long finish. Great Barbaresco, needs time but all in balance.

Slightly aromatic, peach, honeysuckle. Some steely mineral. Fresh and light, perfect for a simple white and great value.

Sour cherry, cherry stone, bitter herbs. Deep purple colour and highly alcoholic! Substantial and satisfying Dolcetto.

Herbal, plum, powerful and concentrated. Good sappy mouthfeel and refreshing acid.

Red fruit, acetone, violet, cherry. Good biting acid as it should have. Concentrated and relatively long. Very good.

Iron, mineral, red fruit, sweet spice. Slightly earthy. Good concentration and balance. Needs longer to develop.

Explosive smell, sweet fruit, floral, eucalyptus, wood spice? Some ferrous smell too. Round polished tannins, substantial. Excellent.

Lightly aromatic, green herbs, golden translucent appearance. Honeysuckle, medium bodied, astringent, slightly metallic. Salty and savoury finish. Very good.

Strawberry, orange peel, very fresh in the mouth. Tomato leaf. Pale red colour. Lovely and realtively light on sulphuric funk.

Honey, red fruit, nectarine. Biting tannin and green astringency. Fresh green herbs. Green apple. Not as ripe as the usual Radikon Ribolla.

*** 50% chardonnay, 50% sauvignon blanc ***

Floral but more muted aromas than the other whites, green herb. Juicy friendly fruit in the mouth. High acid and fresh. A bit of acetone. Good long finish.

*** 100% Friulano, the name comes from the locally used name for the grape: Tokaj Friulano -> Jakot ***

Very floral, apricot. Rich fruit, high acid. Mineral sulphur taste, green herb. Very good.

*** 75% Merlot, 25% Pignolo ***

** I tasted this twice in the space of a few days, once at a restaurant, once at the winery when the bottle was left open for a few days **

The fresh bottle has a strong volatile acidity character, super bright fruit, high acid tangy and zippy, strong sulphuric funk. Medium body, crunchy light tannin. Such a lot of fun to drink. The bottle at the winery had lost some fruit but had calmed down a bit, it showed caramel, red fruit, crushed or roasted stawberriesm bramble, green wood, savoury funk. Dolly mixture.

Excellent and intersting wine, perhaps one for drinking young?

Rich, ripe fruit, slightly sewery. Bramble, blackcurrant, undergrowth. Savoury funk, salty and smoked meat character. Earthy too. Medium body, powerful and concentrated. Long finish.

Lovely floral smell peony and rose, red fruit. All spice, clove. Sweet herbs, perhaps dried herbs too. So similar to Nebbiolo in character, perhaps slightly brighter and lighter. The tannins are at a very good stage now, providing structure but not biting. Long sweet fruit finish.

Amber, ochre colour. Pencil lead, peach, herbal. Burnt herbs in the smell. Full bodied, tannic, such powerful fruit. Bright tangy acid. A hint of funk. A huge wine, needs more time, would be great with many rich foods.
