Henehan Home

Introduction

IWFS Arkansas got together at the home of Brian & Shelli Henehan to explore the diversity of Alsatian wines. Delicious courses prepared by member Bev McClendon matched well with the 5 different varietal wines.

Flight 1 - Welcome to Alsace! (1 note)

A light and lovely Cremant welcomed members and guests to the event. The wine washed down smoked salmon dressed with a lemon/dill creme fraiche and parmesan crisps.

Flight 2 - Two Soups for You! (1 note)

The pinot blanc's acidity was a nice counterweight to the rich soups: Cream of Mushroom and Ina Garten's Roasted Potato-Leek.

Flight 3 - Charcuterie (1 note)

Various sausages and cheeses were accompanied by freshly baked pretzels. The pinot gris's lively character worked well with the wide variety of flavors.

Flight 4 - Andre' Soltner's Onion Tart (1 note)

For 42 years at Lutece, Chef Soltner featured an onion tart on his menu. This version went perfectly with a dry riesling from Lucien Albrecht.

Flight 5 - Sweet, But Not Too Sweet! (1 note)

An Alsatian-style cheesecake with fresh cherries baked in was perfect with Trimbach's basic gewurztraminer. Thank goodness the rain held off long enough for everyone to savor this beauty!
