Flight 1 (16 notes)

Red
2020 Grafen Neipperg Schwaigerner Ruthe Lemberger Großes Gewächs Germany, Württemberg
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Lean, precise, medium complexity and body. 89-91
White
2021 Weingut Carsten Saalwächter Silvaner Alte Reben Germany, Rheinhessen
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Interesting Silvaner. Nice fruit and density. Acidity needs to blend in. Good potential. 88-89
Red
2021 Weingut Carsten Saalwächter Assmannshausen Spätburgunder La Première Germany, Rheingau
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Freshly bottled, therefore quite nervous. Nevertheless a beautiful Pinot in the making. Certainly more Burgundy style than German. Straight, precise, nice fruit, barely noticeable oak, nice texture. Solid potential. 91-92+
Red
2021 Weingut Carsten Saalwächter Ingelheim Spätburgunder Alte Reben trocken Germany, Rheinhessen
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Freshly bottled, very nervous, some unpleasant bitter notes. Needs time to calm down and blend in. Nevertheless a beautiful Pinot, like a very good Bourgogne Rouge.
Red
2021 Weingut Rings Spätburgunder Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Wow, compared to Saalwächter already open and very joyful. More German, fruity side of Pinot, but actually really joyful. Like it. 88-89
Red
2021 Weingut Rings Leistadt Spätburgunder Leistadter Kalkofen Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Damn, Rings is not only a master of Riesling, but their Pinots are also beautiful! Very dense, certainly a more German interpretation of Pinot, but very, very good. Beautiful fruit, lovely mineral core, great texture. Safe potential. 92+
White
2022 Seckinger Pure Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Very crisp and lean, acidity still a bit unbalanced, spicy, nice. 87-88
White
2021 Seckinger Kieselberg Riesling Wurzelecht Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Dense, deep, beautiful structure and texture, needs 5+ years, but great potential. 92++
White
2021 Seckinger Chardonnay Linse Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Medium- body, very lean, high, unbalanced acidity, no dominant oak notes. Mineral. I have no clue, how it will develop. If it stays on this rather unpleasant level, I am a bit confused at the price point. But I guess, it simply needs 5+ years to integrate and develop. 88+
White
2022 Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Wachenheimer Gerümpel Riesling Germany, Pfalz
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Another beautiful wine from the great 2022 collection. Very dry, straight, precise, dense and mineral. 91+

White
2021 Colterenzio Schreckbichl Chardonnay Lafóa Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Alto Adige - Südtirol
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Drunk right after the Bürklin Riesling it tasted awfully sweet. Oak is well integrated, round, balanced, easy drinking Chardonnay. 89-90
Red
2018 Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
In a beautiful spot right now, not too complicated, round, balanced, but also showing the Nebbiolo quality. Barolo for clever people :) 90-91
Red
2017 Vietti Barolo Castiglione Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Completely closed down, very dense, monster tannin, beautiful structure and complexity, needs time. Only concern is, that the tannin will dry out. We will see. 92+

Red
2020 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
The sales rep told me, this would be cooler and leaner. Hmm, tasted like thick, spicy red berry jam for me. Certainly on a decent level, but nothing that gets me interested in drink another sip.

Red
2020 Tenet Wines Syrah The Pundit Columbia Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
That happens, when a US mass producer hires some French consultant to create a northern Rhone clone and failed miserably. Don't get me wrong, this is a well made wine, fruity, lots of flesh, but lacks completely the elegance and finesse and acidity of french Syrah blends.
White
2022 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Glass: Red Wine
*** brief notes for my own memory from tasting sip. No rating ***
Wohoo, what a great end of this tasting event! I fell in love with this wine in spring time at my first tasting and this wine has developed nicely. Already so tempting and beautiful. Wonderful, more full-bodied and fruity Kabinett, juicy, joyful and simply deliceous. 92+
