Flight 1 (11 notes)
White
2022 Freie Weingärtner Wachau / Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Terrassen Federspiel
Some sulfur but it's gentle and integrated. Classic gruner phenolic presence providing both grip and pleasant bitterness on the finish. Very good.

White
2022 Vignobles Ferrandière Sauvignon Blanc
Light and playful, with nice orange pith citris notes. Solid.
White
2022 Ptujska Klet Sauvignon Pullus
Cool melon on the nose. Light and delicate. A bit of funk/cat pee on the finish but not overpowering.
White
2021 J.B. Becker Wallufer Walkenberg Riesling Spätlese trocken
Medium to medium-plus acidity. Definitely not showing the electricity of so many Mosel and Nahe Rieslings from 21. Little to no fruit and rather one-dimensional. Did I catch in a dumb phase?
Red
2022 Clos LaChance Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
Ripe berries and oak on the nose. Palate is full bodied with disjointed toasty oak.
Red
2021 Château de Chamirey Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roi
Wonderful nose of fresh berries and earth. The palate is light bodied, juicy, and fresh, showing medium acidity, and concentration without weight. Very good.
Red
2021 Luigi Righetti Ripasso della Valpolicella Classico Superiore Campolieti
Shy nose. A lot of leather and tobacco, which doesn’t leave much room for anything else.
Red
2020 Perticaia Umbria Rosso
A very neutral wine with not a lot to say. A little blood orange makes a meager appearance.

Red
2019 Domaine Eugène Carrel Vin de Savoie Jongieux Mondeuse
Fairly dark color, with stewed fruit and a bit of musty-ness the nose. But then the palate does a 180 showing bright acids, light body, no faults, and not the slightest bit of overextraction. A really intriguing and perplexing wine that ultimately came through on the palate.
Red
2018 Fattoria Ambra Carmignano Santa Cristina in Pilli
flawed
Acetone on nose and palate crowds out everything else.
