Angelica Wine Club - Italian
Noi Restaurant, Petersham
Tasted March 27, 2024 by chatters with 19 views
Introduction
Cheeky little gathering to taste a selection of Italian wines brought along with no pre-planning.
Flight 1 (9 notes)
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Casa Caterina Cuvée 60 Extra Brut Rosé
White flower, meaty savoury notes, touch of bread yeast, a little cherry. More cherry focussed on the palate, fresh, slightly drying textured burr closes down the fruit. Okay.
White - Sparkling
N.V. Ferrari Fratelli Lunelli Trento Blanc de Blancs Brut
Biscuit, a little lemon, a touch of cream soda, Tart, bone dry, very slight warmth <shrugs>
White
2020 Marchese D'Azeglio Timorasso Colli Tortonesi Derthona
"Served blind
Honey muted fruit shows a little orchard, juicy, fleshy, slight alcohol warmth, texture burr, again a little orchard fruit, saline, waxy quality "

White
2013 Attilio Contini Vernaccia di Oristano Flor
Flor, slightly oxidised, bruised apple, dried fruits, almond. Bone dry, more of the same plus salinity on the palate, all travels long, it's a bit clever. Like this a lot
Red - Sparkling
2020 PODERE SOTTOILNOCE Saldalama
touch of farmyard, earth, sour cherry. Juicy, savoury, cherry less, sour, feels warmer than the stated 12.5%. A little short. Meh
Red
2018 Luccarelli Salice Salentino Campo Marino *
Slightly funky, black hued fruits show a little plum, berry, touch of jamminess. Juicy, fleshy rather than fresh, a little textured burr, less jammy on the palate. Best this has tasted for me. Time and air are its friends

Red
2009 Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Riserva
herbaceous, touches of tobacco leaf, earth, charcuterie, leather, slightly oxidised notes, baked cherry. Medium plus acidity, cherry, slight blackcurrant, wood and grape derived tannins are chewy.
Red
2010 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino
Dried flowers, a little cherry, slightly spiritous, touch of earth. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannin, a little lean though it opens with time and shows a little oxidised caramel note. Hmm

Red
2003 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
smoked bacon fat surprisingly dominates the nose, little tomato leaf, touch of sweet spice, slightly pretty. And that translates to the palate, plentiful drying grip closes things down, fresh but with muted fruit.

Incredibly NO NEBBIOLO! Everyone thought that someone else would bring one...hilarious
