Flight 1 (15 notes)

Red
1998 Mountadam Pinot Noir Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
87 points
Slight Bricking to rim, nice slightly jammy nose, slight VA. High acid, not much depth but very enjoyable, plenty of fruit, just lacing a bit of tannin/structure.
Red
1998 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Rouge Belle Dame France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre Rouge
I was sure this wine was faulty on the nose, as bretty as I have ever come across. But a well balanced palate, nice acid. Cant rate though.
Red
2001 Franz Haas Pinot Nero Schweizer Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Alto Adige - Südtirol
90 points
Nice ruby colour. Well balanced, nice ripe strawberry fruit, nice richness to the finish. Great stuff.
Red
1991 Robert Mondavi Winery Pinot Noir Reserve USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
88 points
Light colour, clear, slight browning. Some nice sweet fruit, quite bretty though, slight heat on finish. No tannin at all! A nice wine though. Surprised me this one.
Red
1999 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir La Bauge Au-dessus USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley
90 points
Menthol nose, fresh, well balanced, good fruit
Red
1999 Seresin Pinot Noir New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
90 points
Real depth here, very well made, nice rounded fruit, but superbly balanced. No hurry with this one.
Red
1998 Isabel Pinot Noir New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
flawed
Corked
Red
1996 Panther Creek Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
90 points
Bright sparkly acidity and fruit. Some soft grippy tannins, very high acid, not sure how it will age from here.
Red
1994 Bethel Heights Pinot Noir Southeast Block Reserve USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
89 points
Very concentrated, but not confected, the concentration removing a bit of definition. perhaps needs more time, very youthful.
Red
1998 Dominique Laurent Charmes-Chambertin Serie Rare France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
92 points
Brett and sulphur on the nose, blew off though. Full, spicy oak, very big, penetrating. Superb stuff.
Red
1990 La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
88 points
Smoked cheese on nose, something was not right here, slight oxidation and burnt fruit, but still decent.
Red
1990 Remoissenet Père et Fils Corton-Clos du Roi France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
94 points
Sweet sweet nose, glorious fruit. High acid, tannin shows through on the finish. Great wine
Red
1988 Domaine Jean Chauvenet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Bousselots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
91 points
Fragrant, mature, not overly complex, a bit bitter on the finish. A very good NSG.
Red
1988 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots-Du-Milieu France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
93 points
More aged than the 1990 last month. Still concentrated and rich, great tannin profile. Tiniest spritz, great finish.
Red
1983 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
92 points
A bit cheesy and aged, still has great fruit though, drying finish. Drink up.
