Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon Tasting

Introduction
A tasting organised earlier this year by Linden Wilkie. It has to be said that this is not my natural territory, but was fascinating to experience and highly enjoyable, with excellent info and running commentary from Bruce Tyrrell himself. The VAT 1 Semillon is their top Semillon, and made with a very clear commitment to quality. The failure of the notes to arrive can be put down to an excellent post tasting dinner offline, and far too much wine then compounded by a Staglin tasting the next evening.
Flight 1 - 2004 Tyrrell Vat 1 Semillon (screwcap) (0 notes)
Light straw with a hint of green. Hints of yeast and butter on the nose, then a palate tasting a little of vitamin B, a touch hard, noticeable acidity. Really rather closed
Closing
Conclusion - the Semillon grape in this expression seemed to burst open from early restraint after 15 years into a superb expression of complex white wine. Thanks to Linden and Bruce for an excellent tasting.
