Introduction

We stopped at Vinorosso wine bar first, then on to Greens restaurant for dinner

Flight 1 - Vinorosso (1 note)

We had an unmemorable red sparkler that tasted like sparkling strawberry grape juice. And then this really nice white.

Very nice white, would mistake for a nice sauvignon blanc if tasted blind. I've never had an Insolia, and didn't know what to expect. Stone fruits, minerals, perhaps a bit of melon. A hint of hazelnut on the finish as well. Very nice, dry, and great QPR.

Flight 2 - Greens (5 notes)

Wine pairings with our meal.

Nice, simple sparkler. A bit too much carbonation at first. Otherwise nice.

Too sweet for my liking. But it went wonderfully with the grilled figs and midnight moon goat cheese. I would never normally drink this wine, but great pairing indeed.
Red
2007 Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières

Light ruby colored red. Smooth, simple, rich, and very drinkable. Went very will with the spinach, blue cheese, and vinaigrette salad. I'd purchase this again as a daily drinker.
White

Delicious wine. Tasted of melon and crystals. A wonderful blend indeed, I'd never had anything quite like this. Really luscious mouthfeel. Great pairing to the spinach ricotta ravioli in a chanterelle mushroom and butter sauce.
Red

This was pretty nice, but seemed too young and disjointed. Lots of tannins, and a nice complexity of flavors and spiciness that didn't really meld. It did pair very well with my masa harina crepe with corn and chilies in a tomatillo sauce. But on its own it was only so so. I'd pass on this in the future.
