Third bottle we've had over the course of six months. All of them great and consistent.
Typical good Bordeaux nose and flavor. Floral, especially violets. Hints of citrus and yeast. Great structure -- could probably drink this for another five years.

BV brought this over for dinner tonight. Our first red of the evening, after a California Chardonnay with the soufflé appetizer.
Cinnamon at first taste, followed by requisite chocolate, leather and hints of tobacco. Firm structure. Debate amongst us after noticing a fair amount of tannins: Did we open this too early? Could it hold another five years? Consensus: most likely.
Dinner was shepherd's pie -- a fine complement. Didn't matter. Glad we took it out of the cabinet.

Delicate florals give away to a citrus bomb. Finish goes toward green vegetables.

This was the second bottle we tasted on our annual Rheinhessen spring tasting. The nose is deep and evocative of early spring in a meadow, with tulips, daffodils and wild flowers. Creamy mouth feel with bursts of citrus. In spite of this color, the blanket of winter 2009 hugs with a solid body. The finish is long with hints of strawberry, bringing it full circle, back to early spring.

The nose is the earliest harvested berries of the season, from strawberry to blueberry to raspberry, combined. Body is subtle citrus followed by fresh yeasty bread, then followed by a mild goat cheese. Finish is short with a faint touch of anise.

Vegetables and earthy on the nose, peppery taste. Hot finish. Well balanced and smooth. A great Rhone for a Sunday afternoon.

Ruby color, plums and spices on the nose. Tasting plums and spices. Somewhat bitter. Slight tannins but perfectly fine for a Thursday evening.

Chewy, tannic and very fruity. Maybe I'll buy another bottle and let it sit in my basement for a couple years.
