2016 Caladan Cabernet Franc Napa Valley
Part of a Chris Carpenter online tasting. I am a fan of right bank bordeaux and so was excited to see Chris start making something in that vein. Opened and decanted for about 6 hours before we poured for the first time and even with that this is intense (to be fair, we'd done a Burgundy Zoom a few hours before). So some time to readjust to the new world style. This is a heavier style of wine. I appreciated that it wasn't all fruit dominant. Would have liked to see a bit more acidity, but I did appreciate the way it softened over time (drank over the course of probably 6 hours). There's a certain velvety style which is nice.

4/28/20, 9:38 PM - MC2, I do enjoy right bank Bordeaux, but can you taste the difference between this and a La Jota CF? Does the merlot really enhance to make it different?

4/30/20, 1:34 PM - Thanks MC2. Cardinale approached me a couple days ago to offer the 2016 3-pack.

Are you going to join the virtual tasting with Chris at 4:30pm PDT today?
