Started off thinking it had turned but after it spent some time in the glass it was actually quite yummy.

Needed some time in the glass to open up and to calm the spicy/bitter notes on the finish.

Tasted more like a thick skinned grape varietal. It was a bit heavy for a Pinot which is not a complaint from me--there was an inky depth to it. The alcohol was also apparent during the finish; could have been the serving temp.

Had a cheesy aroma. Citrus, peach, toast. Finish was short.

Used coravin to pull a test glass and it was a little early as there were still some heavy tannins but the fruit and the finish were really nice. This could use a decant or additional bottle time.

Incredibly smooth from start to the long finish. Very fruity up front, and the time in the bottle helped mellow out the acid I remember from Apr 2012.

Pairs well with Vosges super dark chocolate with Guajillo chiles. Has the faint scent of fresh rain on pavement and cherries. Goes down smooth but has a short finish with the spice of a Syrah.
Red - Fortified

Heavy plum notes, and quite spicy for a port. Medium length finish.

The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), prune and black pepper. It tastes like black pepper and plum. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
