Deep golden, like a Sauterne. Not much to my nose, but full-bodied for a white. Not my wife's Viognier, but I like it.

7/16/19, 2:28 PM - I jumped in on a couple of these as other Vio fans I know covet their Condrieu. Seemed like a reasonable entry price for one. For what it is worth, Guigal Condrieu is the benchmark according to a buddy of mine, but $$$$

Opened for a friend's Birth-year surprise...what a shame. Clearly it's tired and past it's prime. As much as I love aged Bordeaux blends...this seems like it's about 3-4 years past peak. The nose was lovely for about 2-3 minutes then everything...everything fell flat, dried out, and was just a little too late to this party.

9/18/18, 1:21 PM - Sad to hear this. I have been holding a bottle of this for my own birth year. Was hoping it could make it to 40. I did procure the bottle directly from the winemakers personal cellar, so maybe my bottle will be in better shape...

Took this to a wine.woot Cab Franc tasting party, and it was, IMHO, by far one of the better bottles put up against:

1998 Walla Walla Vintner Cabernet Franc (Columbia Valley)
2004 Meeker Cabernet Franc (Anderson Valley)
2004 DeRose Port (Cabernet Franc), Cienega Valley
2005 Teldeschi Cabernet Franc (Dry Creek)
2007 Wellington Cab Franc (Sonoma)
2008 C.G. di Arie Cabernet Franc, Sierra Foothills
2009 White Cottage Ranch Cab Franc Howell Mountain
2009 Philippe Delesvaux Anjou (Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur)
2010 Palatine Hills Estate Cabernet Franc Rosé (Niagra, Ontario)
2010 Couly-Dutheil Chinon
2010 Braganini Reserve Cabernet Franc (Michigan)
2010 DeRose Cabernet Franc, Cienega Valley

7/21/13, 10:20 AM - Definitely one of the better bottles of the night. I would have ranked this as tied for 3rd with the Teldeschi, with the Walla Walla in first and the Meeker in 2nd due to those fantastic aromatics. Interesting how all my top wines were the ones with age on them.... correlation or causality?

OK, FINE (dammit)! You can't age Rose. Live and learn. I still believe in the power of experiment.

6/27/13, 5:02 PM - This wine is not a rose, but in my experience you can definitely age rose if it was made well.

This is the third time out of 154 ratings in CT that I've given any wine a 95, and I've never scored anything higher. This wine is a poster-child for the varietal - bell peppers, berries, smoke and minerals. Terrific balance. The best American syrah I've had in a very long time. Drinking great now, but I just updated the window to go out to 2015 and they probably could go longer - I have no doubt that my remaining 3 bottles will serve me well whenever I get around to opening them.
I remember stumbling across this wine, their first vintage, at a Taste of Woodinville and I bought 6 - knowing immediately that this was something special. When I went back in subsequent years for their new vintages, I was always disappointed - they said they had lost their grape source, and it showed. This bottling is one of a kind. It gives my hope that somewhere out there someone is making wine this good with those grapes, but, to date I haven't found that wine.

4/15/13, 7:23 PM - Check out Chandler Reach Vineyards. That is the fruit source for this wine according to the back of the bottle.

No detailed notes. Great acidity and minerality. Light straw in color and medium legs. Round mouthfeel and some heft on the mid palate. Lemon on the nose and palate. Medium plus finish with an unusually smooth finish given the acidity. Very much enjoyed this bottle and glad I have 3 more bottles. Still has the structure to sit a couple more years.

4/9/13, 12:54 PM - I would definitely say this is ready. I will hold for a couple more years, but very enjoyable now. If you have multiples, pop one now. Don't think you will be disappointed.

Scott Harvey excelled with this multi-vineyard Old Vine Zin blended with 17% Barbera. Fruit-forward with a slightly jammy nose. Raspberries, cherry cobbler, vanilla palate with baking spices and moderate tannins on the finish. Already drinking well, this wine should hold up for several years.

2/28/13, 12:38 PM - I agree. If you haven't tried the J&S reserve Barbera ('09 in particular) you need to add that to your list. Incredible food wine.
