2012 Hanzell Pinot Noir Sonoma Valley

Perhaps this was just an off bottle, but very disappointing. Astringent with missing the ripe fruit of a good Sonoma Pinot. Drinkable but not enjoyable

5/31/21, 6:12 PM - @oldwines I am a big fan of Hanzell in generally -- more their Chardonnnays than Pinots. Initially we did not decant before drinking. Given it was closed down, we decided after drinking the first glass to keep overnight and try on Day 2. Some, but no major improvement, on Day 2 unfortunately.

Alluring notes of peach and limestone. Very nice wine, but certainly well short of what I would hope for in a white Hermitage. Missed the complexity and depth of flavor to be an outstanding wine.

7/11/20, 7:28 AM - @carib - this may get better with time, and certainly worth trying as this may just be in a closed down phase that is common in Rhône wines. But honestly, I am doubtful
