Violet, menthol, crushed rock, licorice, and maraschino liqueur. Full, with ripe cherry. Sinewy on entry with bracing acidity. Finishes with saline and plenty of fine tannins. Really exhilarating.

A few hours in, and the wine is really on fire. Add some capsicum to the very expressive nose and some coal tar on the finish. One of the best young nebbiolo-based wines I've ever had (94-96).

Black cherry, currant, leather, dark chocolate, black tea, iodine, earth, and sandalwood. Some green notes as well, likely from the cabernet franc. Decent fruit left and moderate acidity. Mouth-coating tannins on the finish.

It has held up into the second day. The question is if the fruit can outlast the tannin. The impression I get is that it is a wine still in transition towards harmony, and it may yet have a chance. It is not a wine without life (87+?).

Fragrant red and black fruits. Floral and slightly autumnal, with fig and spice cake aromas. Plush entry. Admirable depth and juicy acidity in the midpalate. The slighty spicy finish has nice grip. As noted, this is ready to be enjoyed now and over the next few years (89+).

7/20/17, 8:37 PM - I drank some upon opening and over the course of an hour. Didn't think it needed decanting to be enjoyable.
