A very solid riesling but nothing too special. For a Kabinett this is bone dry without any residual sugar (at least if felt like it). Not too complex or intense.

2007 Ceritas Chardonnay Porter-Bass Vineyard Russian River Valley

This wine is developing superbly, and it is just starting to show some secondary characteristics of honey and wax. Despite this richness, the palate still has riveting acidity and tremendous freshness. There is an interesting almost saline note that develops on the finish as the wine warms up a bit. Drink or hold, you can't go wrong.

3/20/14, 3:56 AM - I have had whites from Littorai that were holding up well at their 20th birthday. Hard to say exactly how much longer the Ceritas will develop, but given the fantastic cut on the palate 5 years seems easy and 10 years is possible.

2002 Louis Jadot Corton-Pougets Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir

A wine that was so open for business, you'd be hard pressed to believe it was Jadot or from Corton. The same lush acidity seen in many '02s that serves to complement and highlight the fruits. Will surely hold for some time but it certainly can't hurt to drink now either. I just wish that it was a bit more true to the terroir of Corton, although that would have made it a lot less fun to drink now!

    6/6/13, 7:24 PM - Hi Harley1199:
The Jadot character I mention is that the wines are often tannic and structured in a way that rewards longer aging. Personally I thought that this bottle was quite open and enjoyable-- more so than I would have expected based on appellation and producer. However, sometimes I have found that 2002s are like this. Also, we were dining on some fairly rich food as we drank this wine, and I think that added to the impression that this wine is open for business. I would not wait until 2022 to drink your bottle, although it will probably hold up well over that time period.
