I'd say that the drinking window on this is accurate. This was a nice wine that has softened up and is on the way down from it's peak. Still some fruit left, but doesn't have the big mountain flavor. I'd get to drinking these up quickly if you've got it in your cellar.

I found gamey notes on the nose followed by lush blackberry, blueberry, and white pepper. Healthy tannins rounded out the finish. This is a food wine and would pair nicely game or a steak.

Unfortunately the tasting window ending in 2010 was probably accurate. Based on the past reviews this wine has seen better days. Not much fruit left and I mostly got elements of tar and tobacco with some hints of plum and prune.

If I had blind tasted this wine, given all the black mountain fruit that's still there, I would have guessed it was much younger. This is the first time I've tried it so I can't dispute if it peaked a few years ago, but I can say that it's definitely still drinking well and probably still have a few more good years left. I just bought it via Benchmark Wine and wish they still had more left for me to buy.
