Didn't get near the exceptionally high bar set by the previous vintage.

Initially, I had very mixed feelings, most likely due to my expectations. I thought this would have a similar profile to an Islay malt, but its powerful iodine notes make this whiskey unlike anything I've had. It took 1/4 of the bottle consumed over many months for me to warm up to it, but I suddenly found myself craving the unique flavor profile and greeting the indulgence with extreme satisfaction. Plowed through the remainder of the bottle, and immediately replaced it. Hopefully Beam will stick with, and support, this brand going forward.

Major disclaimer: my exposure to Italian wine is in its early stages. I enjoyed it, but seriously doubt I could distinguish this Brunello from a good $15-$20 Chianti.

Full bodied and very tight. An initial tartness. Black fruit, then tobacco and dark chocolate. Medium finish. Great QPR. Many more years of drinkability.
