When Bogle came out with The Juggernaut some years ago, it was delightfully bold; a jammy vanilla bomb.
This, however, shares nothing more than a label with that former bottle. Here we have a mess of a wine. Still a cab, but don't tell me there's no zin in there. Or do, but I won't believe you.
The vanilla used to compliment the wine. Now it blankets it in an attempt to mask a subpar product. If only it could save the bad bad no good finish.

like the place it came from, too big and too hot.
is this candy? oh, it's Joseph Wagner...

Typical fat-assed California Pinot Noir, chewy and overly boozy.
Black cherry, black pepper, oaky vanilla.

tastes like mega-purple. great, if you're into that sort of thing.

wow. to say it outperforms its price point would be a massive understatement. what a gem, hiding in a plain old label.

2015 Folk Machine Parts & Labor California Grenache Blend, Grenache (view label images)
ben is totally right, this is a tight little monkey. but give it time and you'll find a great buy. at 44% syrah you'd expect more juice here, but it is very restrained. as usual, great job kenny.

not as clean as previous vintages. the signature green apple is absent here, replaced by a stronger oak presence. but it's still pretty darn good for its price.

not very good. especially for Oregon, where i expect so much more from my pinot. this tastes like those flavored vitamin waters.

it's made the way they wanted it, but certainly not how i'd want it. this is gross and i'll bet folks love it. yet another california butter bomb chard.
suffered through one glass, dumped the rest. this is the bonterra people so no surprise.

sparkling cherry/strawberry juice. very bright and refreshing, but not much going on else wise.

glorified water, hardly a representation of sauv blanc much less NZ sauv blanc.

plenty of raspberry and blueberry fruit. subtle vanilla, very prominent baking spice. smooth tannins and a long finish that sticks with you.

spilled half of it on the carpet, but the other half was delicious. bright, young, very new world style. fresh cherries and great acidity. so well balanced, it hides the 14.5% expertly.

decent fruit, strong spice, but overall very flabby. it's like chewing a piece of cinnamon gum that's been left out in the sun all day.

well this smells amazing. and the initial taste follows suit with a juicy mouthfeel filled with pepper and cinnamon. a bit surprised by the very gripping tannins on the finish!

a sticky sweetness up front, with good spice on the back to keep it in check. still, sweeter than i'd prefer.

upon opening, it's good but not great. came back to it after several hours and man oh man it was terrific! i'd love to taste achaval's other offerings!

delightful! great representation of american syrah and perfect for its price point. easy drinking, fruit forward. not the longest finish, but a pleasant one for sure. alcohol sneaks up on you, much like boxhead shiraz!

my favorite wine of 2012!
very unique; notes of vanilla and dark chocolate, with cherry hiding behind a wall of espresso. strong tannins, balanced acidity.
the espresso on the nose sticks with you long after the bottle is gone.
