Red
2014 Château Malescot St. Exupéry Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Per WS: 93 points.
“Alluring, with Lapsang souchong notes that weave around the core of gently steeped red and black currant and plum fruit flavors. A strong graphite edge marks the finish, giving this excellent cut and drive. Very suave. Best from 2020 through 2030. 8,100 cases made.”

2/20/23, 7:51 PM - We did not decant it. It did reach room temp. No notable sediment for a wine this age. I loved it, but did not think about tasting notes since we had guests. Which is why I copied WS notes.
I’m unfamiliar with Margaux, but felt this bottle weighed well in my narrow window of experience. Per my CT account, I still have another bottle, but would certainly buy again if I could find it. Wino in Encinitas.

Begins with a strong citrus nose, primarily apricot and grapefruit before shifting to buttered bread and linen. When drank it first has a herbaceous flavor (undefined) before shifting to lemon curd and grapefruit. Very crisp and refreshing but not strong defined flavors.

Red
2017 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Evangelho Vineyard Contra Costa County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel
I'm unsure what varietals are blended here, but they go together well. I really like this wine. I have enjoyed most every bedrock wine I have tried. For $35 I would buy again. Now, if I could only remember where I bought it.

Fairly highly rated by someone, whom i've forgotten. a little too dry w minimal fruit and berry, like many cheaper Bordeaux's. Better the second day. But for $30 i expected a bit more.
Per CT, drinking window goes out to 2015. Hope my other bottles get better.

11/12/15, 8:31 PM - After just opening a bottle of similar priced Bordeaux, I must say the review I wrote 30 minutes earlier may have been too harsh. The comparison was helpful. Though a bit high in tannins, at least it felt balanced compared to other wines. Maybe i should have given it an 89 or 90.
