Rosé
2019 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé Mourvèdre Blend, Mourvèdre

Sweet melon, herbs and a fresh sea breeze on the nose. Exceptional, outstanding harmony and elegance on the beautifully velvet palate, slowly building up some savoriness on the mid palate towards the long finish where some very fine tannins glue itself to the palate. This has gained even more substance over the last year and is now a better wine still. Everytime I drink Tempier rosé I realize anew that this is one of those few signature wines of this world that are not comparable with anything else out there. 19/20

A couple of years ago, I was at a tasting where Garrus was featured , and it struck me as disappointing for its price! I was introduced to Domaine Tempier, and the Peyroux family story , by following Alice Waters and Chez Panisse in Berkeley , California.

I pulled this from my cellar for National Rosé Day (because of course, that’s a thing). Poured a very pretty, deep pink-salmon color. On the nose, forest strawberries, melon, and blood orange. On the palate, brambles, strawberry, and citrus fruits. A fabulous body with lovely acidity too. Dry, low tannin and long…over a minute with minerals dancing on the palate at the very end. A killer rosé. Complex enough to ponder and yet delicious enough to want to crush over and over again. Universally adored by wine people and non-wine people present. I wish I had cases and cases but I’m luck to find single bottles of this anymore. Drink now but you could probably hold for the next 3-5 years without penalty.

White

This is a white wine from Amalfi Coast ( The Ravello subzone ). It’s a blend of Falanghina and Biancolella. The producer we visited in August 2018. It’s located right on the road to Ravello from Amalfi. The wine is yellow straw with gold highlights, it has a medium viscosity (13.5%abv). The nose is penetrating with jasmine flower, white peaches and golden Apples. The palate has a unctuous full body white wine, with a good balanced acidity and a long persistence. The wine is a perfect aperitif or paired with any fried fish ( fried cod we tasted with). PM:89

1999 Rene Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Cuvée Classique Syrah

Classic Cote-Rotie, as far as I can tell. Meat and violets; elegant with just enough rusticity to remind you you're drinking Northern Rhone syrah. Seems to be drinking perfectly.
