Almost forgot about this bottle. Bought in '96 before meeting my wife. Survived 2 moves and a house fire. Cork crumbly on outer 1/3 so expected vinegar. Decanted for 1 1/2 hrs. Stingy to pure delight. Smooth and not bitey. Excellent finish. Wonderful after a hard day. Paired well with a home cooked beef tenderloin and mushroom ragout. Huge save and best Tuesday wine in awhile! When a wine is made well, it holds up to time and stress.

Opened 2014. Expected a late show due to delayed sampling - acidic sour opening. Let stand 1/2 hour. Opened adequately to some heavier sweetness and plum notes. Ended up being enjoyable with some sweet onion crackers and a cinnamon cheddar. Not skunky at all even though probably a few years past its recommended date. Keeping in dark 58F/59% humidity may have helped.
