Lush and full. Very ripe and balanced. Can go another 5-10 years.

A very fresh and alive bottle, which was very well received by the group of 7 tasters. Personally, while the nose was expansive and redolent of ripe black fruits, tar, band-aids, and leather, the flavors left me a bit disappointed. There was a predominant flavor of medicinal/band-aid/cosmetic/lipstick which was not to my liking. The other tasters did not share my lack of enthusiasm. Surprisingly, the wine was still tannic, to a small degree! We all agreed another 3-5 years would be reasonable to revisit this wine and assess it again...

Quite sweet fruit, with lots of oak, and some leather. Didn't last very long in the glass, but tasted fine from bottle for several hours. By the next morning, had some bitterness, although it was still pleasant to drink.

Tasted on 4/7/07. No specific notes taken, but the wine was stunning! Now I know what the hype about the '78 vintage was all about.... Very complex, layers of flavor, no hint of decline. Wish I had another bottle or two to drink with a little more attention to detail.

Tasted on 4/7/07. Magnificent wine, right at its peak! Nose of liquid roses, saddle leather, and sweet oak. On the palate, the sweet fruit belied its age. Very alive and fresh, with fully integrated tannins, soft and lush, complex and thrilling. This wine will certainly not improve, but has showed no sign of starting to decline. Makes me believe a tired bottle five years ago was just a bad bottle, and not a sign of this wine in decline. What older California Cabs are all about....
